About Alpine Business Consulting
Alpine Business Consulting is a specialized team focused on fixing enterprise performance management and reporting systems that have failed to meet expectations. Frequently, companies spend significant sums on complex planning tools only to find that reality does not match the marketing promises. Implementation corners are cut, leaving finance teams with data that does not reconcile and month-end closes that take several weeks instead of days. We step in to reconfigure these systems or build new ones that actually function as intended.
Our consultants bring years of professional experience with Oracle EPM, SAP BPC, and modern analytics tools to every project. We prefer fixed-price quotes and prioritize creating documentation that a client can use without our ongoing help. We want to provide a single source of truth that people can trust every morning, then step back once the client is ready to be independent. Currently, we are providing these services to a major logistics partner that requires an overhaul of their reporting infrastructure.
The role
We are seeking a Data Analyst Assistant to support our consulting team as we rebuild the reporting framework for our logistics partner. Many of the systems currently in place at this firm are producing conflicting numbers, which slows down critical decision-making. In this role, you will help our senior consultants identify where the data breaks and assist in the cleanup process. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from your own environment while collaborating with our team through digital channels.
Your primary focus will be supporting the technical configuration and testing phases of the project. You will spend time looking at how data moves from the logistics operations into the financial reports, identifying gaps, and helping to document the new workflows we establish. Because our goal is a clean handover, you will also help prepare the training materials and configuration guides that the client will use after our engagement ends.
What you will be doing
  • Reviewing spreadsheets and system extracts to identify discrepancies in the logistics data.
  • Assisting senior consultants with the mapping of data from source systems into the new reporting tools.
  • Performing basic data validation to ensure that the numbers in the new dashboards match the verified source records.
  • Drafting clear, step-by-step documentation for system updates and configuration changes.
  • Helping to build simple report templates that the finance team can use for their monthly closing cycles.
  • Updating project trackers to keep the team informed on the status of data cleaning tasks.
  • Participating in team calls to discuss technical hurdles and project timelines.
  • Organizing client files and training materials to ensure a smooth final handover.
What we are looking for
We need someone who is organized and enjoys the process of turning messy information into clean data. Since this is an entry-level role, we do not expect you to have decades of experience, but we do expect a high level of attention to detail. You should be comfortable working independently in a remote setting and communicating clearly when you find a problem that needs solving. A background in business, finance, or data science through your studies or internships will be very helpful.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, including the ability to use basic formulas and formatting to organize data.
  • A logical approach to problem-solving and an interest in how business systems work together.
  • Strong writing skills for creating technical documentation and user guides.
  • The ability to follow specific instructions for data entry and system configuration.
  • A basic understanding of financial terms such as revenue, expenses, and profit margins.
  • Reliable time management skills to handle tasks across a full-time, remote schedule.
  • Experience with or curiosity about data visualization tools or basic database concepts.
Working at Alpine Business Consulting
Working here means focusing on results rather than corporate posturing. We value transparency and direct communication. You will be working alongside experienced consultants who are happy to share their knowledge, provided you are willing to put in the work to understand the systems we build. This is a permanent, full-time position that is entirely remote. We believe in providing the tools and trust necessary for our staff to do their best work from home.
This is a paid role with a compensation package that is competitive for the entry-level market. We provide a professional environment where you can learn the realities of enterprise consulting and see how large-scale logistics operations manage their data. You will gain experience in creating a single source of truth for a major client, which is a valuable foundation for any career in data or finance. We focus on getting the job done right the first time so that our clients can move forward with confidence.
