Reporting Analyst Assistant

Reporting Analyst Assistant

Alpine Business Consulting
About the role
Alpine Business Consulting is currently supporting a German-based financial services firm that is reconciling its disparate reporting systems. Large organizations often find that their enterprise performance management tools have become cluttered over time, leading to inconsistent data and long month-end closing processes. We have been brought in to clean up these configurations and establish a single source of truth for their finance department.
The Reporting Analyst Assistant will support our senior consultants in the day to day tasks of system verification and technical documentation. This is a fully remote, entry-level position designed for someone who is organized, focused on accuracy, and interested in how financial data moves through a large corporation. Because we do not use clients as training grounds for senior roles, you will be working directly with experienced professionals who have spent years in the field. This environment provides a practical foundation in enterprise reporting without the corporate fluff often found in larger firms.
What you will be doing
Your work will center on ensuring that the systems we build or repair remain reliable and well-documented. You will spend a significant portion of your time verifying that the data in new reports matches the source systems. This requires patience and a methodical approach to checking numbers across different platforms.
  • Assisting senior consultants with the initial configuration of reporting modules and data templates.
  • Updating and maintaining technical documentation so that client teams can manage their systems independently after our handover.
  • Running data validation checks to identify discrepancies between legacy systems and new reporting dashboards.
  • Supporting the preparation of training materials and configuration guides for finance users.
  • Participating in remote project meetings to track progress against fixed-price project milestones.
  • Helping to organize data mapping files that ensure information flows correctly from SAP or Oracle environments into analytics tools.
  • Monitoring data loads during testing phases to catch errors before they reach the final reports.
What we are looking for
We need someone who is naturally curious about how systems work and who finds satisfaction in technical accuracy. You do not need years of experience, but you do need to be comfortable working with numbers and technical interfaces in a remote setting. We value clarity and the ability to follow detailed instructions over specialized certifications at this stage.
  • A basic understanding of financial reporting or accounting principles from your studies or previous projects.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, specifically the ability to use functions like VLOOKUP or basic pivot tables to compare data sets.
  • Strong writing skills in English for drafting clear, step-by-step documentation and user guides.
  • The ability to work independently in a fully remote environment while staying communicative with the rest of the team.
  • A high level of attention to detail, particularly the ability to spot errors in complex spreadsheets or system logs.
  • Basic interest in learning enterprise tools such as Oracle EPM, SAP BPC, or similar planning and analytics software.
  • A proactive approach to asking questions when a process or a data point does not seem to make sense.
What the role offers
This position is a permanent, full-time role that offers a direct path into the world of specialized financial consulting. You will gain exposure to the inner workings of a major German-based financial services firm and learn how enterprise-level data is structured and managed. Working at Alpine means avoiding the typical office politics and focusing instead on delivering systems that actually work.
The pay for this role is competitive and attractive for the entry-level market. Since we are a fully remote company, you will have the flexibility to manage your workspace while still being part of a team that prioritizes transparency and predictability. We provide the mentorship and the tools you need to build a solid technical foundation. Our goal is to help you develop the skills required to eventually handle complex configurations and client handovers on your own. You will be evaluated on the quality of your documentation and the accuracy of your data verification, not on how many hours you spend in a specific chair.
The work we do is tangible. You will see projects move from broken, inconsistent systems to clean data environments that finance teams can trust every morning. This role is about building the habits of a successful consultant: checking the work, documenting the process, and ensuring the final product meets the client's needs without compromise.
