This role ensures financial transparency and the achievement of economic targets (budget, business case and product cost) throughout the lifecycle of power electronics projects, from concept to series ramp-up. It establishes a link between technical project execution and financial performance, thereby enabling informed management decisions regarding priorities, resources and portfolio value contribution.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set up, consolidate and update project budgets continuously (including engineering hours, external services, prototypes, test resources, tooling and investments) and ensure they align with overall financial targets and business cases
- Track actual costs and hours against budget, perform variance and root‑cause analysis, and proactively propose countermeasures to secure project and portfolio profitability
- Prepare rolling forecasts and scenarios (timing, cost and volume) and quantify the financial impact of risks, delays and changes in scope on project net present value (NPV) and profitability
- Support and challenge make‑or‑buy, specification and design decisions from a financial perspective, working closely with project management, engineering and purchasing
- Ensure that gate and management reviews contain clear and concise financial KPIs, including budget status, forecast completion costs, and key cost and investment risks
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Finance/Controlling or a comparable field is required. A combined technical and business background would be advantageous
- Several years' experience in project or financial controlling, or project management, ideally in an R&D or industrial environment and in power electronics or similar high‑tech products
- Solid understanding of cost structures in development and industrialisation projects, with the ability to translate technical content into financial implications
- Proficient in SAP (ideally SAP S/4HANA or SAP HANA‑based controlling and reporting modules) for budget planning, tracking actuals, and management reporting
- Highly accurate and reliable in planning, tracking and reporting financial and project data, with a pragmatic, hands‑on approach
- Strong communication skills are required to align with engineers, managers and the finance department, including the ability to provide constructive challenges and elevate issues clearly when necessary
- Proactive, risk‑aware and solution‑oriented mindset, focusing on safeguarding the on‑time delivery and economic value of the project portfolio
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, German and/or Italian as a plus
