Underwriter Construction (f/m/x)

Overview

In this Underwriter role, you will source and underwrite new Construction business to achieve profitability, building a robust, profitable portfolio. You will work within the Construction governance framework and coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent risk assessment and policy issuance. You will shape regional underwriting strategy, nurture broker and client relationships, and support junior team members. This is a growth-focused position at a global insurer that values data-driven decisions and collaborative risk management. Verantwortungsbereiche

• Source and underwrite new Construction business to meet profitability targets
• Develop, grow, manage and maintain a profitable Construction book
• Underwrite in line with governance framework (Underwriting Authorities, Guidelines, Rules)
• Oversee a globally consistent data set of submissions and historical loss results
• Drive involvement of Market Management, Risk Consulting, Claims and Operations in underwriting
• Manage referrals and perform 4-eye reviews with underwriters
• Contribute to regional underwriting strategy development and execution
• Maintain positive relationships with producers, clients and stakeholders
• Ensure accurate policy documentation issued to producers
• Provide training and support to junior Construction team members
• Manage assigned underwriting assistants when required

• Extensive experience underwriting profitable Construction business for large corporate international insurers
• Established relationships with clients and brokers at peer level in the market
• Specialized understanding of regional/local Construction insurance markets and competitor landscape
• Ability to leverage data and analytics to improve efficiency and effectiveness
• Good understanding of the legal and regulatory environment
• Ability to design, develop and implement consistent, robust contract wordings
