About the Role
Amplity is partnering with an innovative global biopharmaceutical company dedicated to advancing transformative therapies for patients living with rare and neuromuscular diseases. We are seeking an experienced Team Leader Clinical Development Liaison (CDL) to support and drive clinical development activities across Germany. This is a strategic field-based role combining scientific leadership, stakeholder engagement, and operational support for clinical trial execution. As a Clinical Development Liaison, you will serve as a key scientific partner to investigators, study sites, and internal stakeholders, supporting study start‑up, patient identification, enrollment strategies, and study conduct. In addition, as a Player‑Coach, you will provide mentorship, guidance, and leadership to fellow CDL team members, helping drive consistency, best practices, and operational excellence across the region. This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to the development of innovative therapies for patients with serious neuromuscular diseases while collaborating with a highly experienced international Clinical Development team.
Purpose of role
The role of Team Leader (Player/Manager) is a hybrid role combining CDL activities with leadership of a small number of CDLs. The Clinical Development Liaison (CDL) is responsible for establishing a respected and valued presence for our client with researchers and opinion leaders working in a specific therapeutic area. They will engage in fair balanced scientific exchange and respond to requests for information about products and diseases of interest with key stakeholders. Through a thorough understanding of national and regional experts, they will gain insight into treatment patterns and trends that will be shared internally to shape strategy. The role is also the field‑based leader and key contributor/coordinator to the overall remit of the client’s Medical Affairs organisation for the Amplity Medical team. This position is responsible for leading and coordinating operational requirements of the Amplity team to support the client’s Medical Affairs business. The specific deliverables being managed can vary and is defined in the contract Amplity holds with the client organisation.
CDL Responsibilities
Education and Engagement
Educate on science, our client, pipeline, trials, disease
Assist Clinical Ad‑Board coordination and execution for studies
Assist and attend National and International Meetings
Attend and support Patient Advocacy with sponsored events
Study Start‑Up
Identify KOLs and create a working network for trials
Serve as company’s ambassador for early phase studies
Boots on the ground to support scientific and operational aspects of trials
Patient Recruitment and Enrollment
Support sites during study conduct with focus on site‑start‑up and patient enrollment
Partner with PIs and internal stakeholders to drive patient accrual
Support sites with creation of referral networks
Support identification of patients & referral networks
Study Conducts
Coordination of discussions / visits with sites across Clinical Development, Clinical Operations, CROs and other APLS individuals
Provide stakeholders with insights from interactions with Investigators
Email updates post‑communication to internal (& CRO) stakeholders about outcomes of discussions
Handover of interest / knowledge about publication interest / pub planning or potential investigator
Initiated Trials (IITs)
Team Leader Responsibilities
Lead/coordinate the activities of small teams or individual field CDLs
Act as single point of contact (SPoC) to coordinate input e.g. insights, reports etc. into single regional view to streamline communication with client project lead
Work with Amplity leadership to input and set team/individual objectives & KPIs in line with client Medical Affairs strategic aims
Support Amplity leadership to ensure the team’s performance and alignment with the client’s field Medical Affairs objectives
Act as SPoC for client liaison with 3rd party vendors, as appropriate e.g. CRO
Support the recruitment process when needed (interviewing, assessment centre participation, closing of the process with future team members) in a professional and compliant way with Amplity leadership
Support the on‑boarding of new ream members
Key accountabilities
Clients – External/Internal Proactively manage relationship with assigned contacts in client organisations; be “the true partner”
Develop and maintain positive relationships with relevant stakeholders in client organisation.

Monitor project status/changes and develop solutions to address arising issues by engaging the Director, Medical, People (HR) Team, Finance Manager and Account Director on issues that may impact revenue, client expectations or satisfaction and issues related to public perception of client organisation or its products
Stay up to date on the industry and trends developing
Use industry knowledge and news to identify new potential new opportunities
Assist as needed with wide team on ad‑hoc duties as required and as appropriate to the role
Collaborate and meet regularly with colleagues and client as appropriate
Share best practice and feedback to drive improved business performance internally
Provide input to help shape business strategy, be the ‘voice of the field‑based team’ and an advocate for their role and their contribution towards business and client success
Gain engagement and support from all those involved in Client projects to deliver exceptional quality to exceed Client expectations
People
With leadership support: Liaise with Talent Acquisition (TA) team to refine and finalise candidate search criteria and collaborate regularly during recruitment process, providing feedback where appropriate
Develop and maintain excellent relationships with relevant key stakeholders in the client organisation and communicate clearly and frequently with Amplity leadership
Be the ‘voice of the field‑based teams’ within Amplity to ensure resources are aligned to the support their needs
Conduct second stage interviews, co‑ordinate client ‘Meet and Greet’ calls or meetings
Work in collaboration with Project Managers to plan and implement assessment centres, ensuring full attendance and make final candidate selections
Work in collaboration with HR and project management to facilitate induction and onboarding for new starters in collaboration with relevant departments
Ensure relevant objectives and plans are in place to successfully manage end of probation discussions
Translate programme/project requirements into operational task and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for successful execution of contracted deliverables
Set expectations with team around performance, providing clear goals and direction and managing/removing any barriers to success, clarify appropriate communication routes
Assist in the management of any employee relations and contractual issues or concerns related to employee terms and conditions in conjunction with People (HR)Team
Coach team to plan, conduct and follow‑up on outstanding scientific exchange with external experts and Thought Leaders
Use a coaching approach to enable team to grow and develop: Know strength/grow strength Observe and listen Ask insightful questions Capture outputs to ensure there is a clear action plan to enhance performance
Ensure team members are equipped with appropriate IT software/hardware, understand how to use it and have access to support services e.g. helpdesk
Motivate, retain and develop team to progress towards an aligned vision and goal
Processes
With leadership support: Manage all employees in accordance with Company policies and country standards e.g. absence, disciplinary, performance etc.
Monitor individual and team performance against KPIs, collate insights and prepare client reports that add genuine value to client’s therapy area strategy
Respond to queries and questions related to client projects in a timely and supportive way
Share relevant Amplity and Client procedures and processes to ensure team operate within a compliant framework and in accordance with legal requirements
Conduct regular field‑visits and undertake regular 1:1s (face‑to‑face or remote, depending on geography)
Work closely with wider team and business to ensure key information and feedback is shared to improve future proposals and client offerings
Work in conjunction with People (HR) Team to process any leavers
Create and produce timely reports as required by Amplity leadership
Financials
With leadership support: Always negotiate offers in line with budget prepared and where these exceed outlined budget, liaise with Finance and client to gain approval
Ensure self and team operate within any financial budgets allocated
Approve all travel and expenses incurred by team in accordance with company policies and within agreed timelines
Ensure team has access to and understand how to use financial systems
Always operate in a cost‑efficient manner
Technical
Maintain the required technical and scientific expertise including competitive landscape and pipelines
Maintain up to date and relevant knowledge of therapy area, clinical papers, patient treatment pathways and client products and support team with training in this area
Comprehend and communicate complex technical and scientific information and terminology
Role model excellence in scientific exchange
Accompany and support team at national and international congresses if required
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Minimum BSc (or equivalent) in a life science or healthcare discipline with ≥5 years of clinical experience and KOL/Investigator engagement in the pharmaceutical/CRO or biotechnology industry.
Master’s Degree, PhD, pharmacy degree or nursing qualification is preferred scientific expertise in the relevant therapeutic area
Mandatory experience in Rare Diseases and/or Neuromuscular Diseases.
Experience working within Neurology is strongly preferred.
Has medical knowledge and is skilled at scientific discussions
Proven success of relationship building with HCPs / SCs / KOLs
Knowledge of clinical research in various the appropriate region including optimization of enrolment strategies
Possess strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Able to use initiative and problem solve.
Flexible and adaptive approach to work.
Ability to identify issues and resolve appropriately with guidance
Ability to function well, both independently and within a team setting, in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment
Demonstrable experience of people management
Critical appraisal of scientific data
Knowledge of compliance framework for field‑based medical roles
Knowledge of industry codes of conduct
Therapy area knowledge and/or experience highly desirable
Knowledge of payer environment and principles of health economics highlydesirable
Demonstrable experience working in a fast‑paced environment
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages
Solution driven with the ability to work collaboratively
Exceptional customer focus
Exceptional listening skills to fully understand client requirements and needs, with the ability present workable solutions
Languages Fluent German and English (written and spoken) are required. Additional European languages are considered an advantage
