For our IP team at ams OSRAM International Gmb H in Regensburg, Germany, we are seeking an engaged Patent Attorney (f/m/x) who can understand technological developments, recognize their commercial significance, and build and maintain an industry-leading patent portfolio.
- Manage inventions and patent families throughout their entire lifecycle, from invention disclosure, drafting and filing, and prosecution through to strategic portfolio decisions.
- Evaluate invention disclosures together with technical experts regarding patentability and strategic relevance.
- Independently draft patent applications and handle patent prosecution matters, and where appropriate, oversee equivalent matters handled by external patent law firms.
- Work closely with R&D teams and conduct IP workshops to identify patentable innovations (invention harvesting).
- Advise internal business and technical stakeholders on the validity, relevance, and scope of protection of both company-owned and third-party intellectual property rights.
- Conduct IP risk assessments related to the development of new products and technologies.
- Support patent litigation, patent-related disputes, licensing projects, and other IP-related transactions as required.
- Successfully completed degree in Physics or Electrical Engineering, preferably with a focus on semiconductors; a Master's degree or Ph D is preferred.
- Solid understanding of optoelectronics and related technical fields is advantageous.
- Qualified Patent Attorney (e. g., European, German, and/or U. S. Patent Attorney).
- Several years of relevant professional experience following patent attorney qualification, ideally within an industrial patent department.
- Extensive experience and a genuine passion for drafting patent applications and handling or managing patent prosecution proceedings.
- Strong value-oriented mindset and the ability to align IP decisions with technological and business objectives.
Experience in IP commercialization, transactions, and/or litigation is considered an advantage.
- Open-minded team player with excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, including interaction with R&D teams, management, and external partners.
- Fluent in English and preferably also in German.
