We are looking for a Senior Manager Commercial Strategy & Value Creation (m/f/d) to help clients unlock rapid top-line growth and margin expansion in newly acquired portfolio companies and complex corporate transformation situations. In this role, you will work closely with Mid-Market Private Equity investors, Operating Partners, portfolio company leadership teams, and C-level stakeholders to identify, design, and execute commercial value creation initiatives across sectors such as Technology, Media, Telecommunications, and Financial Services.
As well as a comprehensive professional induction, you will gain deep exposure to the strategy and execution environment of private equity investors, portfolio companies, and corporate clients from day one.
Key responsibilities
- Take responsibility for end-to-end delivery of clearly defined projects or major workstreams, from problem structuring through analysis, recommendation development and implementation planning.
- Set a clear analytical approach, break complex commercial questions into workstreams the team can execute independently and unblock structuring or analysis issues when they arise.
- Identify and prioritise growth and margin levers across sales effectiveness, go-to-market strategy, pricing, channel performance, customer retention and commercial operations.
- Own the quality bar for project analysis, storylines and client deliverables, putting in place practical checks so outputs are accurate, well-evidenced and client-ready.
- Translate fragmented, incomplete or imperfect business data into clear insights, robust hypotheses and prioritised management actions, using AI and analytical tools appropriately while validating outputs.
- Develop fact-based business cases, commercial roadmaps and execution plans with clear ownership, milestones, dependencies and measurable targets.
- Assess commercial performance using relevant sector-specific KPIs, including ARR, MRR, churn, net retention, customer lifetime value, cost-to-serve and EBITDA-related metrics, treating KPIs as evidence rather than a mechanical score.
- Manage senior client stakeholders day to day, build trust through reliable delivery and clear communication, and elevate sensitive or strategic issues at the right time.
- Prepare and present concise, high-quality materials for client leadership teams, including clear storylines, implications and recommended actions.
- Lead, coach and develop Consultants, Senior Consultants and Analysts, creating clarity on roles, priorities and expectations while giving constructive feedback.
- Manage project scope, time and resources responsibly, balancing client impact, team capacity and commercial outcomes.
- Contribute actively to account development, proposal creation, client relationship building and business development under senior guidance.
- Support the development of Analysys Mason's commercial strategy frameworks, value creation methodologies and proprietary intellectual property through project learnings and knowledge sharing.
You have a strong analytical, commercial and collaborative mindset. You are able to take ownership of challenging client work, structure ambiguous problems, guide teams to high-quality outputs and contribute beyond delivery to the growth of clients, colleagues and the wider practice.
You will ideally bring
- 6-7 years of professional experience, including experience at Manager, Engagement Manager, Project Leader or equivalent level in a recognised strategy consultancy, such as MBB, a Tier 2 strategy firm or a Big 4 Strategy/Deals practice.
- Proven experience managing consulting projects or substantial workstreams, including planning, analysis, client communication, team coordination and delivery to deadlines.
- Alternatively, a combination of strong consulting experience and relevant in-house commercial, strategy or revenue operations experience in a scale-up, technology or financial services environment.
- Demonstrated experience developing commercial growth, transformation or margin improvement initiatives and translating analysis into practical recommendations.
- Strong understanding of commercial levers such as pricing, sales productivity, channel performance, customer retention, revenue quality and go-to-market effectiveness.
- Relevant sector exposure in B2B Technology, Media and Telecommunications, particularly software or SaaS, and/or Financial Services.
- Fluency in relevant commercial and sector-specific KPIs, including ARR, MRR, churn, net retention, customer lifetime value and cost-to-serve.
- Strong quantitative modelling and analytical skills, with the ability to structure complex and imperfect data and apply appropriate quality checks.
- Excellent communication, storylining and presentation skills in English, including experience presenting findings and recommendations to senior client stakeholders.
- Experience leading and developing project teams, including coaching junior colleagues and maintaining consistent delivery standards.
