Senior Financial Lines Underwriter

We are working on behalf of a growing firm seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Financial Lines Underwriter to join a dynamic underwriting team based in Germany, with a focus on the DACH region (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland). The team currently has a diverse Financial Lines portfolio, looking for experienced underwriters across a variety of products, including Financial Institutions, Commercial Directors & Officers (D&O) Liability, Cyber Insurance, and other related lines. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving growth, profitability, and maintaining strong relationships with brokers, clients, and key stakeholders across the region.

Key Responsibilities :

• Underwrite a diverse portfolio of Financial Lines products, including Financial Institutions, Commercial D&O, Cyber Insurance, and other lines of business.
• Evaluate risk profiles, determine appropriate pricing, terms, and conditions, and provide high-quality underwriting decisions in alignment with the company’s guidelines.
• Review and analyze complex risks, ensuring appropriate coverage is provided while maintaining profitability for the organization.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key brokers, clients, and intermediaries across the DACH region.
• Keep up-to-date with market trends, regulatory changes, and industry developments within the DACH region, ensuring the company’s financial lines products remain competitive and relevant.
• Contribute to the development of new products and solutions, ensuring they meet market demands and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with senior management to develop strategic goals for the financial lines business.
• Provide regular reports on underwriting performance, market insights, and competitive intelligence.
• Mentor and train junior underwriters, assisting in their professional development and knowledge of financial lines products.

Qualifications :

• Minimum of 4-7 years of experience in underwriting financial lines products, with a deep understanding of any financial lines product.
• Proven track record of underwriting complex risks and managing high-value portfolios.
• Degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Law, or a related field. Professional certifications (e.g., ACII, Chartered Insurance Underwriter) would be an advantage.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex risks.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with brokers, clients, and stakeholders.
• Fluent in German and ideally English (both written and spoken). Additional languages would be an asset.
