We're not building our social media presence from scratch – and we're definitely not looking for someone to replace what's already working.

We already have a strong and successful Social Media presence, including a creator who has become a recognizable face of a&o Hostels across our channels.

Now we're looking for someone to join the team, bring in new ideas, new perspectives and additional creative energy – both behind and in front of the camera.

You’ll work closely with our existing Social Media Manager to develop formats, shoot content, edit videos and turn everyday hostel life into content people actually want to watch.

Sometimes you’ll be behind the camera. Sometimes you’ll be next to him. Sometimes you’ll take the lead yourself.

This Position is a part‑time position with 20–30h/wee k.

YOUR JOB / Your Playground

• Work closely with our Social Media Manager to develop, shoot and produce content for TikTok, Instagram Reels and other social channels.

• Turn ideas into finished content – from first concept to filming, editing and publishing.

• Be comfortable in front of the camera when a format calls for it – alone, together with the team or interacting with guests and colleagues.

• Support shoots behind the camera and help make our existing formats even better.

• Edit short‑form video independently and turn raw footage into fast, entertaining, platform‑native content.

• Add subtitles, hooks, transitions, music, effects and graphics that make people stop scrolling.

• Help develop new recurring formats while continuously improving the ones that already work.

• Spot trends, sounds, memes and cultural moments early and figure out how they can work for a&o without simply copying everyone else.

• Create content directly inside our hostels, around Berlin and occasionally at other a&o locations.

• Brainstorm together, challenge ideas, test new approaches and learn from performance data.

• Work closely with the wider Marketing team on campaigns, launches and creative projects.

• Experiment with AI tools to make ideation, production and editing faster and smarter.

YOUR PROFILE / What You Bring

• You genuinely enjoy working creatively with other people – this isn't a one‑person creator show.

• You're comfortable in front of the camera, but you're just as happy helping someone else create a great piece of content.

• You know how to edit video yourself and can take footage from raw clips to finished Reel or TikTok.

• You're comfortable with tools like CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or similar editing software.

• You know your way around Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud or comparable creative tools.

• You understand TikTok, Instagram and short‑form video beyond simply using the platforms yourself.

• You have a strong instinct for hooks, pacing, storytelling, trends and what keeps people watching.

• You can shoot confidently with a smartphone; experience with cameras, lighting and audio equipment is a plus.

• You're open to feedback, enjoy bouncing ideas around and don't need every idea to be your own.

• You're curious about AI‑powered creative tools and actively looking for ways to use them.

• You don't need years of professional experience. A portfolio, creator account, university project or simply great examples of your own work can be just as convincing.

• German and English both work for you in everyday communication and content creation.

• Bonus points if travel, hostels, cities and meeting people from all over the world sound more exciting to you than another day filming products against a beige wall.
