IT Specialist (m/f/d) Cybercrime/Digital Traces in the area of education and training

At the Police Academy of Lower Saxony, the following position is available at the earliest possible date:

IT specialist (m/f/d)
Cybercrime/digital traces in the field of education and training
as part of a full-time position (39.8 hours). Organizationally, the position is affiliated with Study Area 1 (Criminal Sciences). The place of study or location is basically freely selectable (Nienburg, Oldenburg, Hann. Münden, Hanover). Please indicate your preferred location in your application.

The job is generally valued according to EG 12 TV-L.

Who are we?
The Police Academy of Lower Saxony is the central educational institution responsible for the basic and advanced training of all employees of the Lower Saxony police force. Another central role is the area of research, which has developed into an established factor in recent years. There are currently around 500 employees working in teaching and a wide range of service and administrative areas. In addition, more than 2,400 students are being prepared for their future work in the police service of the state of Lower Saxony as part of an accredited bachelor’s degree program.

Your tasks

  • Collaboration, support and implementation of events in education and training in the field of cybercrime/digital traces
  • Conception, preparation and implementation of courses using new media (webinars, video tutorials, podcasts, etc.)
  • Creation and/or further development of subject-specific content and learning objectives, possibly interdisciplinary, with special consideration of digital forms of knowledge transfer as well as pedagogical and didactic aspects
  • Collaboration in the area of „digital knowledge transfer“, creation of digital content such as blog posts and wiki articles
  • Advice and support for course participants as well as authorities and institutions
  • Participation in research projects and working groups

The tasks also include the willingness to travel across locations. We reserve the right to change the allocation of responsibilities.

What are the mandatory requirements?

  • Have successfully completed a university degree (Bachelor of Science, university of applied sciences degree or comparable) in the field of information technology (e.g. IT forensics, IT security, computer science, business informatics, electrical engineering) or in the fields of mathematics, physics or statistics or „General and Digital Forensics“ (B.Sc., degree program at Mittweida University of Applied Sciences)
  • Have at least 3 years of practical professional experience in a related field. Proof of professional experience must be provided with the application documents (e.g. interim or work references). Three years of practical professional experience is a prerequisite for classification in EG 12 TV-L. If you do not meet the 3-year practical work experience requirement, you will be grouped into pay group 11 TV-L until you meet the requirements.
  • Alternatively, you can also apply if you have completed relevant vocational training in the IT sector (e.g. IT specialist, IT systems electronics technician, state-certified technician in the field of IT or IT technician). In these cases, the classification is in pay group 11 TV-L.

If you do not fully meet the above requirements profile, you cannot be considered in the further procedure. The relevant statutory regulations apply to severely disabled applicants.

In the case of foreign educational qualifications, please send us the relevant proof of equivalence with a German qualification (certificate assessment). Please understand that we can only consider a foreign educational qualification in the further pre-selection process if we have corresponding proof (long version of the certificate evaluation) of equivalence with a German qualification.

What requirements are desirable?

  • A sound knowledge of the English language, proven by a corresponding certificate (level C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), is desirable.
  • A pronounced technical affinity and a high willingness to familiarize yourself with new technologies are required.
  • Very good knowledge in at least two of the following areas is an advantage, but other topics not listed may also be of great interest:
  • Network technology
  • Digital forensics/mobile forensics
  • Cybersecurity
  • Cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology
  • Automotive IT
  • Internet of Things
  • Geoinformatics
  • Reverse engineering
  • Mass data processing
  • Artificial intelligence

Furthermore, analytical and conceptual skills as well as strong planning and organizational skills are expected. Successful applicants must also have a high level of teamwork and integration skills, motivation to perform and a creative drive, as well as special communication skills. Previous experience in teaching or training employees is an advantage.
