Product & Material Compliance Specialist, Weller - DE - Besigheim

Job Summary

The Product & Material Compliance Specialist ensures that Weller products comply with all relevant legal, regulatory, and normative requirements. This role is responsible for the operational implementation of Product Compliance, Material Compliance, and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), and supports cross-functional teams in the compliant development, modification, and commercialization of products.


Key Responsibilities:

• Developing, maintaining, and managing applicable guidelines, regulations, standards, and technical requirements, as well as conducting CE tests (LVD, MVO)
• Coordinating and tracking measures to ensure compliance with relevant legal, regulatory, and normative requirements for Weller products (e.g., Low Voltage Directive, Machinery Regulation)
• Coordinate and document product testing, conformity assessments, and certifications in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external testing and certification bodies
• Conduct first article inspections and product release activities
• Prepare, maintain, and manage technical documentation, including EU Declarations of Conformity and other manufacturer declarations
• Manage Material Compliance requirements, particularly REACH, RoHS, POP, and other substance restrictions, including the collection, evaluation, and maintenance of supplier and material compliance documentation
• Support the preparation and maintenance of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and related classification and labeling information
• Manage Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) requirements, particularly for packaging, electrical and electronic equipment, and batteries
• Assess and support product, material, supplier, and process changes, including risk assessments and the tracking of corrective and improvement actions
• Monitor regulatory and standardization developments and evaluate their impact on existing and future products
• Collaborate closely with Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, Product Management, Manufacturing, as well as external partners and authorities

Critical Skills & Qualifications:

• Technical or business training, ideally with additional education
• Initial professional experience in product compliance, quality assurance, technical documentation, or a comparable field
• Good knowledge of European product regulations, conformity assessment procedures, and relevant standards for electrical, electronic, or machinery-related products
• Knowledge of material compliance, particularly REACH, RoHS, and other relevant substance restrictions
• In-depth knowledge of the Low Voltage Directive, the Machinery Directive, and their practical application
• Experience in preparing technical documentation and declarations of conformity
• Experience working with testing and certification bodies is a plus
• Proficiency with MS Office; knowledge of SAP is a plus
• Fluency in German and English
