My client is a vibrant small business, growing significantly, that leverages their own internal trades team of electricians and gas fitters to support the building services industry. They are seeking a talented CEO/MD with experience in a small business environment to join their team with a focus on next steps for the business.

About you:

  • Maybe tertiary qualified, but definitely with an innate sense of what it takes to drive a small business forward.
  • Demonstrable, successful experience of seven to fifteen years in a management role, with leadership of remote working trades teams highly valued.
  • Ability to thrive in a small team environment.
  • Strong understanding of financial management, including P&L analysis.
  • Experience driving employee engagement including building and maintaining a positive workplace culture and fostering team collaboration.
  • Familiar with compliance oversight in ensuring organizations adhere to all legal and regulatory requirements in a regulated environment.

What you will do:

As the business leader, you will be responsible for overseeing the performance of the management team, ensuring alignment with company values, and steering the organisation towards sustainable growth. You will work across various departments, fostering collaboration, supporting innovation, and ensuring operational excellence:

  • Lead and regularly meet with department heads to ensure accountability and excellence.
  • Collaborate with managers to establish, monitor, and achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Work closely with the accounts team and CFO to regularly assess profit and loss statements (P&L).
  • Identify risks by assessing potential threats to the business and implement risk mitigation strategies.
  • Drive employee engagement by building and maintaining the positive workplace culture and foster team collaboration.
  • Collaborate with the directors to facilitate actionable outcomes from financial reviews.
