The Department of Natural Resources and Mines, Manufacturing, and Regional and Rural Development (the Department) drives sustainable growth and prosperity. The Department stewards the state\’s natural resources through the productive and responsible management of the state\’s land, mineral, and energy resources ensuring all Queenslanders benefit. The Department also fosters innovation and technology in manufacturing, boosting productivity and competitiveness and strengthens regional and rural economies by supporting job creation, diversification, and infrastructure development, collaborating closely with local communities to address their unique needs. With over 1,400 full-time equivalent staff, the Department is seeking a Chief Digital Officer (CDO) to provide strategic leadership in relation to their digital transformation efforts.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Finance and Digital Strategy, as the Chief Digital Officer (CDO) you will be responsible for providing technical direction to inform data and digital investment across the organisation and ensuring alignment to and compliance with whole of Government strategy and policy. Leading a team of four direct reports and a broader team of circa 20 staff, you will be responsible for developing and implementing the Department\’s digital and data strategy, championing enterprise architecture principles, and driving innovation. You will contribute to building a team of high-performing professionals who are critical to achieving the Department\’s digital objectives, and as CDO you will also collaborate across the sector by cultivating strong business partnerships and developing and strengthening key stakeholder relationships. Key to this role is also leading the implementation and continuous improvement of the Department\’s Information Security Management System and cyber awareness.

To be considered for this position, you will have experience in senior technology management roles, with demonstrated expertise in leading and delivering complex digital transformation initiatives, whilst maintaining the operational delivery of an IT function. Your experience in enterprise architecture and information security management and cybersecurity, with the ability to continually improve the treatment and value of the Department\’s data resources will be important to success, as will your experience in managing multiple complex projects and business processes to achieve outcomes. Furthermore, you will have expert stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to foster internal and external relationships, drive organisational change, and contribute to Departmental and whole of Government initiatives.

Please note the total remuneration package for this role is $184,842 to $193,402 inclusive of annual salary, superannuation at 12.75% and leave loading.
