About the Position:
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced and capable leader to join the Shire of Broome in the role of Director Development and Community.
The Director Development and Community will be responsible for delivering leadership, strategic and community outcomes, and exceptional customer service in the areas of Community Engagement, Marketing and Communications, Place Activation, Economic Development, Special Projects, Town Planning, Building, Environmental Health, Emergency, Community Safety, and Ranger services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Experience at a senior management level of at least 5 years
- Capacity to deal with complex community, development, economic and regulatory services issues including the formulation of appropriate action strategies and to provide high-level advice to the CEO and Council
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills together with demonstrated advocacy and negotiation skills
- Ability to contribute to the strategic direction of a diverse organisation
- Well-developed leadership and management skills
- Degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Environmental Health, Building, Community and Economic Development or related area. Membership of or eligibility for membership of a relevant professional body.
- Possession of or progress towards a post-graduate qualification in management (Desirable)

About the Shire:
Working for the Shire of Broome means you will enjoy:
- $170,000 – $190,000 base salary per annum.
- In addition to base salary, there are generous allowances, including Location Allowance ($18,000 pa), Rental / Mortgage (up to $22,000 pa) and reimbursements of Utilities and Travel expenses (up to $8,000 pa) as well as employer matched superannuation up to a total of 15.5%.
