The Director People and Culture is responsible for leading and managing Human Resources (HR) and governance of Health, Safety, Environment and Sustainability (HSES) to deliver enabling services across the business under the People and Culture function.

This includes:

  • Driving a positive culture across the business, including a strong safety culture supported by strong employee engagement.
  • Implementing and managing a strategic framework that provides oversight and visibility of all HR and HSES activities across the business.
  • Ensuring appropriate and timely management of all HR and HSES matters across the business.
  • Managing an ambitious recruitment program to allow the business to quickly scale its operations across 3 sites in Australia.
  • Building on Kongsberg Norway policies to create fit for purpose processes and systems for the Australian workforce.
  • Management of all HR and HSES policies to ensure alignment with State, Territory and National Legislation and Regulations.
  • Benchmarking current People and Culture practices in order to develop and implement a roadmap to optimisation including policies, procedures, processes, tools, templates and metrics.
  • Developing, implementing and managing appropriate enterprise wide HSES systems and processes to drive excellent HSES performance.
  • Adopting a continuous improvement approach to the identification of risks, issues and change resolution processes across the People and Culture function and work with stakeholders to take corrective action as needed.
  • Proactive management of the function budget.
  • Ensuring all reporting for the function is completed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Undertake travel as required, both within Australia and internationally, to fulfill the requirements of this role.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field, such as Bachelor level qualifications in Human Resources, Business, HSES or Management.
  • Master qualifications in a relevant field, such as Human Resources, Business, HSES or Management (desirable).
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Experience managing the Human Resources capability during a period of significant organisational growth.
  • Experience in managing HSES in a similar industry context.
  • Previous experience in a similar role within Defence Industry (desirable).
  • Must be able to access information controlled under the US International Traffic of Arms Regulations (ITAR).
  • Must be an Australian citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain an Australian security clearance.
