About the Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Executive Solicitor outposted to the Office of the Commissioner for Public Sector Employment (OCPSE) to provide expert industrial legal advice to ensure accurate, timely, and cost-effective legal solutions for the Commissioner and the Department of Premier and Cabinet, particularly with respect to employment and industrial matters with whole of government implications, as well as injury management and work, health and safety policy issues for the public sector. The role also encompasses supplementary leadership of the Crown Solicitor’s Office (CSO) Employment Law Group to oversee and co-ordinate work referred to the CSO in consultation with the Commissioner.

About the Business

The Crown Solicitor’s Office, through the Attorney-General, provides legal services to the South Australian Government. The Civil Litigation Section delivers legal services to Government Agencies across a broad range of civil practice areas including civil and commercial proceedings, industrial and employment law advice and representation, coronial inquiries, medical negligence, royal commissions, and victims of crime and other important priority areas of Government.

Minimum Requirements

  1. Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory.
  2. Currently admitted as a practitioner of the Supreme Court of South Australia and the High Court of Australia or eligible to be admitted.
  3. Some out of hours work may be required.
  4. Some interstate and intrastate travel may be required.
