Front-Office Assistant Manager (Duty Manager)

The award-winning Sebel Melbourne Docklands is looking for its next superstar Assistant Manager – Front Office , to join us on a full-time basis . Joining a small team of Front Office professionals, the assistant manager will handle guest’s arrival and departure, respond courteously to guests’ requests, act as a hotel representative in the absence of senior management, and manage the day-to-day operations of the Front Office team.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 5 years or more experience in the hotel industry
  • 2 years or more experience as a supervisor of Front-Office or any similar role in the hotel industry
  • PR/Citizen of Australia
  • Good leadership skills
  • Knowledge of PMS system – Opera

Important and essential duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Show efficiency in constantly striving to provide total customer satisfaction.
  • Take initiative to ensure that interactions with our customers are positive and productive, calling the Front Office Manager/General Manager if difficulties cannot be addressed through empowerment.
  • Be familiar with and handle all Front Office and Night Audit administration.
  • Have the necessary skills and training to actively resolve complaints and challenges presented by customers.
  • Apply decisions to reach a win-win situation on behalf of the Hotel and the customer.
  • Apply knowledge and empowerment to resolve an issue that may result in adequate compensation to the guest.
  • Establish ongoing On Job Training Programs within the department to meet Brand and Service Standards.
  • Induct new staff into the team, department, and Hotel in the first week of their employment following guidelines. Ensure that all staff under your control carry out their duties in accordance with the Brand and Service Standards and Procedures Manuals.
  • Log and inform your Manager of any system problems. Suggest any improvements that could be made to improve existing systems and procedures.
  • Follow policies and procedures outlined in the Accor Brand Standards Manual, Departmental Service Standards/Procedures Manual, and Accor Policy Manuals.
  • Complete all duties and ensure a concise handover.
  • Provide guidance, support, and leadership to internal staff.
  • Monitor training and offer guidance to staff while on shift.
