This leading ASX listed building and construction service product supply business operates across the country and is a leading provider of equipment and associated systems & solutions to the civil construction, industrial and mining and resources sectors. Recognising that its success is the result of its people achieving amazing outcomes, our client now requires a dynamic and passionate sales and operations leader to join them in Sydney and grow the New South Wales region to the next level. The business already enjoys a strong clientele and joint ventures and is consistently winning and executing marquee projects across the country; this opportunity is for someone to now grow the business multi-fold and play a crucial role in the continued success of the organisation.
The General Manager – NSW is pivotal for the success of the organisation in Australia and will lead an experienced and focused team. Reporting into the National General Manager and forming part of the senior leadership team, you will provide leadership across the following key business functions: safety, business planning, growth strategy, sales, operations and customer relations. As a leader, you will have a solutions-orientated approach and core accountabilities will include:
- Identifying and implementing sales strategies for business performance and growth
- As a profit centre, driving long term profitability of the business.
- Leading, mentoring and developing the sales team to deliver maximum results.
- Fostering a collaborative, performance-orientated, safe and customer-centric workplace.
- Identifying and implementing processes to ensure regular review of performance across key functional areas to ensure regional (Safety, Sales, Design & Development, Commercials & People) performance results are on target and in line with national functional objectives.
- Working closely with the other leaders with the business to develop collective business strategies and goals.
- Understanding clients, market trends and delivering value-added targeted solutions
- Promoting and observing Health and Safety requirements as per company policy and the Safety Management System
The Candidate
The successful applicant will take a values-based approach to leadership and leverage their commercial acumen, strategic thinking and expertise in identifying innovative opportunities to drive growth and achieve revenue objectives, customer outcomes and support the ongoing business growth. This role would suit an enthusiastic, agile and hands-on sales focused General Manager. Representing this company, you will have a strong network in the civil infrastructure industry across the region, an open-minded approach and hunger to grow the business.
Skills and Experience
- Extensive sales experience of selling and hiring equipment as well as solutions to the construction industry. Scaffolding, formwork and shoring experience highly regarded.
- Leadership qualities and a genuine desire to coach and develop talent at all levels.
- Proven ability to think strategically, communicate effectively and understand the complex interaction between a company, its services and the competitive environment.
- Formal education and qualifications will be well regarded.
- Proven track record of winning business and ability to achieve and exceed targets.
- Broad contacts and highly networked in the region.
- Strong presentation, negotiation, and influencing skills
- A result-oriented individual with “Go-getter” attitude
