Great role with a Government Department, the Senior Cloud Engineer role will be a 6 month contract starting in 2025 working in the Brisbane CBD.
About the Role :
The Senior Cloud Engineer plays a key role in a dynamic team of security and IT administration professionals. Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, this role focuses on identifying and selecting suitable cloud services based on requirements and constraints. With deep subject matter expertise, the Senior Cloud Engineer evaluates new technologies for their fit within current ICT architectures.
Your Responsibilities :
- Design, deploy, and migrate systems across IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS environments.
- Develop and document detailed Solution Architectures for Private, AWS, and Azure public cloud services.
- Ensure alignment with standards such as:
- ISO27001 cyber security controls.
- ASD Essential 8 controls at a specified maturity level.
- Government frameworks (e.g., IS18, QGISCF, QGAF).
- Promote modern technology practices, including automation through Infrastructure as Code.
- Transfer skills and knowledge to ICT staff.
Skills and Experience :
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in designing and implementing Cloud-Based Solutions.
- Excellent skills in problem-solving and troubleshooting complex technical issues.
- Proficient expertise in Infrastructure, including VMware, Windows, Linux, and networking.
- Proven experience in configuring and securing Azure cloud services.
- AWS experience is a strong advantage.
- Advanced proficiency in Terraform.
- Practical experience with automation tools such as Azure DevOps and Ansible.
- Strong communication and customer service abilities, with the capability to influence and collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience mentoring operational teams to support and adopt new technologies.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
