Job Description


ATMOS Works is seeking a Mechanical Engineer (m/f/d) with strong expertise in CAD-based development, mechanical design, and hands-on experience in building aerospace-grade hardware.


Key responsabilities



  • You will develop and refine mechanical designs from concept through production, ensuring space-qualification requirements are met.

  • You will create detailed 3D CAD models and technical drawings, preferably in SolidWorks, for manufacturing and assembly processes.

  • You will lead the mechanical design, analysis, and optimization of launcher structures, mechanisms, and interfaces for performance, durability, and mass efficiency.

  • You will define materials, components, and manufacturing methods compliant with aerospace standards and environmental constraints.

  • You will manage and support the end-to-end manufacturing process, including prototype builds, assembly, integration, and test campaigns.

  • You will conduct and document mechanical, structural, and environmental testing, including vibration, thermal cycling, and fit checks.

  • You will collaborate closely with internal teams, including systems, avionics, and propulsion, to ensure seamless integration of mechanical subsystems.

  • You will interface with suppliers and partners to clarify technical specifications and ensure component quality and compliance.

  • You will continuously improve existing designs to enhance performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost efficiency.

  • You will ensure full traceability, documentation, and compliance with safety, aerospace, and certification requirements.


Requirements



  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical design.

  • Good knowledge of 3D CAD modelling and technical drawing; experience with SolidWorks is a strong plus.

  • Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, prototype development, or testing is an advantage.

  • Solid understanding of mechanical structures, materials, and manufacturing processes.

  • Interest in designing hardware for demanding environments, including vibration, thermal loads, and other challenging operating conditions.

  • Ability to understand technical requirements and translate them into practical and robust mechanical designs.

  • Strong written and spoken German; English is a strong plus.

  • Structured and proactive way of working, with strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on mindset.
