VC Principal @ Aurum Impact in Munich, Germany in München

Role Description

This is a full-time investment role, based in Munich or in Berlin, focusing either on VC fund investing or startup investing. Please note, fluency in German is a must and not negotiable (necessary for internal conversations and IC).

Minimum requirements

• Fluent in German: This is non-negotiable. Please do not apply if you do not speak German on a professional level.
• Experience: At least 6-10 years of total professional experience, thereof at least 5-8 years in (climate/impact) venture capital or related investment roles.
• Track record: Proven track record of leading deals end-to-end, including sourcing, negotiating, and closing investments (either VC funds or early-stage venture), ideally also hardware investments.
• Strategic expertise: Proven experience shaping and executing firm-wide strategies, including investment theses, market positioning, and long-term operational goals.
• Portfolio management: Experience advising and supporting portfolio companies at a board level, contributing to their growth and strategic direction.
• Industry reputation: Established as a thought leader and trusted name in the industry, with a robust network of founders, investors, LPs, and industry stakeholders.
• Team leadership: Experience in managing and developing investment teams, with a proven ability to mentor and guide junior and mid-level team members effectively.
• Education: Ideally technical /science background, or else business degree.

Tasks / Responsibilities

• Firm strategy: Define and implement overall firm strategy, including investment thesis and long-term operational goals.
• Governance: Contribute to internal governance and decision-making, including recruitment, budgeting, alignment with the family office, and organizational strategy.
• Leading investments: Take full ownership of identifying, sourcing, and leading high-value investment opportunities that align with the Aurum Impact’s impact thesis, either focusing on impact funds or early-stage venture capital deals.
• Family office liaison: Present and defend investment opportunities to the investment committee and family office leadership, articulating key risks, returns, and strategic alignment.
• Negotiation: Negotiate deal terms and finalize agreements without oversight, ensuring favorable outcomes for Aurum Impact.
• Portfolio management: Managing 5-10 portfolio companies / funds: Staying up to date on their development, supporting them with next funding rounds, finding customers, other advice, managing necessary administrative tasks, e.g. signatures, legals, reportings, etc.
• Team leadership: Mentor and develop junior team members (analysts, associates, and investment managers), enhancing their ability to contribute effectively.
• Networking: Maintain and strengthen relationships with founders, co-investors, industry experts, and other key stakeholders to support deal flow.
• Representation: Represent Aurum Impact at industry events and conferences to enhance its reputation and network.
• Mentoring founders: Provide strategic guidance and actionable advice to founders, helping them overcome challenges.
