Manager Strategic Business Finance & Planning (m/w/d) – 12 months STA
AXA XL, Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany
Temporary position in Cologne, Paris or Dublin. This role is part of the APAC EUROPE Strategic Business Finance team and will be responsible for managing and coordinating the planning, analysis and reporting of an underwriting portfolio (International Financial Lines) in the APAC-Europe Business Unit.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Establish a strong and trusted link with the different business units’ financial teams
- Monitor and analyze the performance of the Underwriting Unit
- Manage the quarterly closing, collaborating closely with local Financial Controllers
- Manage and coordinate budgeting and forecasting exercises, partnering with local finance and the APAC EU Leadership team
- Consolidate and prepare quarterly analysis and commentary at the BU level for the CFO, Leadership Team, and Central Finance on performance against budget and forecasts
- Proactive communication regarding material deviations or events that could significantly impact the financial results
- Cross‑country coordination for efficient and solid process of quarterly financial statements, forecasts and strategic planning
- Regular exchange with the actuarial department and steering smooth cooperation through proactive communication
- Propose improvements and comment on initiatives for business decisions
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Highly organized, methodical, able to deal with multiple priorities
- Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment
- Robust project‑management skills with demonstrated capability to handle competing priorities during compressed reporting timelines
- Ability to navigate a complex global organization and develop relationships necessary to bring matters to resolution
- Comfortable working directly with senior leaders in the region and providing a challenge to their inputs
- Strong experience with planning/reporting systems (e.g. Anaplan) and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Fluency in English
