Overview
In this role you will design, operate, and advance the Digital Manufacturing & Data Lab to enable rapid experimentation and deployment of digital manufacturing solutions. You will bridge automation, IT/OT, and user enablement to support engineers, data scientists, and developers. The position focuses on PCS7, SIMIT, and lab infrastructure to enable virtual commissioning, testing, and scaling of innovation. Verantwortungsbereiche
- Design, implement and maintain lab infrastructure and automation systems
- Develop, configure and support Siemens PCS7 (WinCC, Simatic Batch) for lab/pilot environments
- Build and maintain simulation capabilities and digital twins using SIMIT
- Administer lab IT/OT infrastructure including virtualization and networking
- Integrate controllers, field devices, and lab equipment into cohesive automation environments
- Provide internal tools, templates, and automation libraries for lab users
- Support users in experiments, testing, and troubleshooting
- Participate in automation/digitalization projects from requirements to prototyping
- Maintain system documentation and configuration management
- Identify opportunities to improve the lab environment and adopt new technologies
Zentrale Anforderungen
- University degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field
- Hands-on experience with process control systems, ideally Siemens PCS7, WinCC, and Simatic Batch
- Familiarity with SIMIT or similar simulation platforms
- Solid understanding of automation hardware, PLCs, field instrumentation, and system integration
- Experience with IT/OT infrastructure: virtualization, Windows admin, TCP/IP networking, virtual environments (VMware, Proxmox)
- Knowledge of lab data systems (historians, MES, analytics) and digital twin concepts
- Strong problem-solving skills and cross-disciplinary collaboration
- German language knowledge considered a strong plus
