Job Description Introduction

The IT Department supports a broad portfolio of international scientific and technology initiatives, including collaborations with research institutions, industry partners, and the European Commission. These projects range from technology assessments to the co-development of digital solutions across the areas covered by the Department’s mandate and in support of the CERN community.
Functions
Support budget planning, forecasting, and the maintenance of financial records, tracking files, and reporting tools.
Prepare and consolidate financial reports, budget updates, and analytical material for internal reviews, governance meetings, and audits.
Monitor expenditure, validate financial transactions and purchase requests, and help ensure compliance with internal procedures and financial rules.
Analyse financial and resource data to support planning, prioritisation, and decision‑making.
Track project milestones, deliverables, and resource assumptions, helping to align operational planning with budgetary constraints.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience in the field of Finance, Business Administration, Project Administration or a related field.
Experience
Experience and strong interest in resource planning, financial monitoring, and reporting.
Familiarity with CERN budget processes and financial tools is an advantage.
Technical competencies
Financial reporting and analysis, strong financial reporting and analytical skills, including proficiency in Excel and working with structured data.
Use of accounting tools, experience using financial or accounting systems, ideally including ERP or institutional finance tools.
Personnel and material resources planning, knowledge of budget planning and personnel and material resource coordination.
