Overview
In this hands-on, player-coach role, lead a senior team responsible for three integration lanes (event streaming with Kafka, transactional messaging JMS/AMQ, and file transfer) and transform them into a self-service platform used across the bank. You will design, review, and contribute code while shaping a scalable, observable, and adoptable integration platform. The role aims to retire legacy layers, improve guardrails, and steer the journey toward managed cloud services within a regulated environment. You’ll collaborate across architecture, security, and compliance to balance reliability with speed, while mentoring engineers into T-shaped experts.

Verantwortungsbereiche
- Lead and grow a compact senior engineering team owning three integration lanes (Kafka, JMS/AMQ, file transfer)
- Ship code hands-on while coaching peers in a platform mindset
- Productize the in-house event-driven platform with documentation, SLOs, observability, and a roadmap
- Create self-service provisioning, onboarding templates, and golden paths for partner integrations
- Harden current systems, reduce single-person dependencies, and plan a migration toward managed cloud services
- Define and enforce integration guardrails and decision framework in collaboration with architecture, security and compliance
- Foster a resilient, T-shaped team with shared substrates (OpenShift, GitOps, CI/CD, observability)
- Maintain parallel operation of legacy and target platforms during migration
- Communicate asynchronously with non-engineers, justify trade-offs, and manage expectations with facts
- Embrace AI-enabled tools and ways of working
Zentrale Anforderungen
- Led platform or infrastructure teams and continued shipping code
- Deep production-grade Apache Kafka experience (cluster ops, schema management, consumer patterns)
- Strong understanding of messaging semantics and secure file-transfer patterns in a regulated environment
- Solid platform engineering foundations (Kubernetes/OpenShift, GitOps, IaC, CI/CD, observability)
- Platform-as-product mindset focusing on adoption, developer experience, and golden-path usage
- Experience running legacy and target platforms in parallel in a regulated industry
- People leadership for small senior teams; coaching and retention of builders
- Clear communicator who can explain asynchronous integration to non-engineers and push back with data
- Affinity for AI and willingness to embrace AI-enabled tools
