RESPONSIBILITIES
As part of an enthusiastic global team of experts, you will provide bioinformatics analyses and decision support to our biotechnology research and development activities. Your tasks will include:
- Collecting, analyzing and comparing biological data.
- Drawing conclusions from your analyses.
- Communicating results, interpretations and recommendations to non-technical audiences.
- Working closely with experimental molecular biology and sequencing labs.
- Using your familiarity with a breadth of NGS data and bioinformatics techniques to develop innovative solutions to biotechnology problems.
- Providing guidance to our project partners regarding experimental planning and setup, data collection and processing.
- Participating in the development of new methods using sequencing technologies and guiding the establishment of new assays in molecular analytics.
- Managing projects and actively participating in global cross-functional teams.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: PhD in Bioinformatics or Computational Biology, or a related field like Biology, Systems Biology or Biochemistry with experience in handling and analysis of NGS and biological data.
- Scripting: Profound scripting abilities (e.g. Python, R, shell scripting) are required; experience in at least one programming language (e.g. C, C++, Java) is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Working knowledge of UNIX-like operating systems, database systems, and thorough knowledge of bioinformatics tools.
- Experience: Experience in handling and analyzing genomics, transcriptomics or proteomics data; preferred experience working with NGS data from both prokaryotes and eukaryotes.
- Workflow Management: Basic experience working with workflow managers and containerization would be a plus.
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the initiative to actively communicate with data producers and data users in an interdisciplinary environment.
- Team Orientation: Entrepreneurial and team-oriented.
