Director Business Development (f / m / d)

We are seeking a dynamic and execution-oriented Business Development Director to join our team at Bauer Media Group in London or Hamburg. In this role, you will lead the formulation and execution of strategic initiatives to propel our business forward, with a focus on growth through mergers and acquisitions (M&A) in the publishing and commerce sectors. Key responsibilities :

• Strategic Planning: Collaborate with senior leadership to define and refine the company\’s digital expansion strategy, aligning acquisition and growth goals with overall business objectives, and defining the M&A playbook.
• Market Research: Conduct comprehensive market analysis to identify potential acquisition targets, evaluate industry trends, competitive landscapes, and emerging technologies relevant to digital publishing.
• Target Identification: Source and evaluate potential acquisition opportunities, leveraging industry networks, market research, and partnerships to build a deal pipeline with companies aligned with our digital growth strategy.
• Valuation and Negotiation: Work with cross-functional teams, including corporate M&A, Legal, and other units, to perform financial valuation, structure deals, and negotiate terms to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Due Diligence: Manage due diligence efforts with internal teams to assess operational, financial, and technological aspects of potential acquisitions, ensuring strategic alignment and risk mitigation.
• Deal Management: Oversee the end-to-end acquisition process, coordinating with M&A, legal, finance, and operational teams for smooth and timely execution.
• Post-Merger Integration: Coordinate internal stakeholders to develop and implement integration plans, ensuring seamless transitions and maximizing synergies.
• Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including target company executives, advisors, and industry partners.

Qualifications :

• Proven experience in business development and M&A/growth projects within the digital sector, preferably in publishing, media, or e-commerce.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
• Strong financial skills, including financial modeling, valuation techniques, and deal structuring.
• Deep understanding of digital business models, emerging technologies, and market trends impacting publishing.
• Exceptional analytical, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple projects and meeting tight deadlines.
• Extensive network and deep knowledge of the publishing and commerce markets in the UK and Germany.
• Ability to work across multiple countries and establish international relationships.
• Confident, enthusiastic, with a positive attitude and humility.
• Proficiency in Business English (verbal and written).
