The Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Augsburg, Germany, invites applications for a PhD or Postdoc position (100%, pay grade 13 TV-L) at the Chair of Information Systems and Management (Prof. Dr. Daniel Veit) starting in September 2026. The initial contract will run for three years with the option to extend it for up to further three years. This position can be varied as part-time employment, provided that job sharing ensures the full-time performance of the tasks.

  • Aim for publications in leading international journals of the Information Systems and related disciplines.
  • Contribution to a third-party funded project by the BMFTR titled “PayOrOkay – Sustainable ‘Pay or Consent’ Business Models Between Data Protection, Freedom of Information, and Media Freedom.”
  • Assistance for lectures and exercises, or independent teaching (presumably 5 hours per week during the semester).
  • Responsibility for selected tasks in chair administration.

Whom are we looking for

  • You have a very good Master’s degree in management information systems or related fields (e.g. business administration, business informatics, business engineering, psychology, social sciences, mathematics or economics) or you graduate in one of these areas during the next months.
  • You enjoy conceptual, empirical and creative work.
  • You are qualified in working with quantitative empirical data (SPSS, R, AMOS, MPLUS or similar).
  • You have excellent communication skills.
  • You are fluent in English. German or the willingness to learn the language are an asset.

Required qualification has to be proven by relevant certificates. If personal and tariff requirements are fulfilled, salary follows the collective agreement for civil servants on a contractual basis in the public sector in West Germany according to pay grade 13 TV-L.
