Why join Diabetes Care? Our Diabetes Care business is the industry pioneer and leader in the area of diabetes injection devices (insulin syringes, pen needles and sharps containment). The unit has a 90-year history within BD and is unique as it focuses on one disease which is a threat to world health. Our injection devices provide 2/3rd of the worldwide insulin injections, serving our 30+ million global patient base. BD plans to spin off its Diabetes Care business – creating a new publicly-traded company. NewCo will become one of the largest pureplay diabetes companies in the world. The strategic roadmap for NewCo comprises of three vectors: (1) strengthen the core business; (2) seek business development (inorganic) opportunities that can add to the product portfolio; and (3) bolster the organic product development pipeline.

About the role
This role reports to the HR Leader International and is responsible for the management and execution of HR for the Central & Eastern Europe region (associates currently based in Germany, Switzerland, Poland, and Russia), and can be based in Germany or Switzerland. These countries are mainly composed of commercial and functional teams (65 associates to date with a clear Business strategy to grow organically and inorganically). The HR Manager is the HR Business Support to the Business Leader in the C&EE region.

The primary role of the HR Manager is to ensure day-to-day HR is run smoothly in the countries, in compliance with labour law, but also in a way that fosters engagement from the employees. Beyond the day-to-day work, the HR Manager is the go-to person to execute our growth strategy, whether through external acquisition (managing M&A), launch of new products / hiring of new teams. The HR Manager brings expertise to support the Business in this strategy.

Main responsibilities will include:

  1. Manage day-to-day HR topics and coordinate with regional or global HR support such as Payroll team, Regional Associate Service Center, Total Rewards.
  2. Provide day-to-day HR advice and oversight to Local management, Regional HR, and Associates.
  3. Collaborate closely with and manage external providers such as local legal advisors, payroll provider, benefits providers, recruiting agency.
  4. Coordinate mobility and relocations, especially to the Headquarters in Switzerland.
  5. Foster a culture locally where associates feel empowered and listened to, and enabled to perform at their best.
  6. Provide training and education on relevant topics as appropriate both to Managers and Associates.
  7. Check the pulse of the organization and work closely with the Country Business Leaders to create a high performing environment.
  8. Facilitate discussions and solve litigations with employees and ensure compliance with legal expectations (Works Council, Unions).
  9. Bring HR support and guidance to Business initiatives such as launching / acquiring new products.
  10. Identify Talents, and support their development internally.
  11. Partner with local leadership on evolving the organization as per Business needs.
  12. Stay on top of local best practices and propose ways to implement at Diabetes Care.
  13. Implement regional/global policies or processes such as performance process, annual compensation cycle, new way of working, I&D initiatives.
  14. Streamline, simplify and optimize the local HR offering.
  15. Drive an HR cross-regional topic to ensure visibility for our new HR Talent.

About you
For this role, we are looking for an HR professional with a wide local HR experience in Germany and Switzerland, preferably in various types of companies. Experience in Eastern Europe and Russia is a plus. Being fluent in German and English is a must. Other requirements are:

  1. Working knowledge & understanding of all operational HR related disciplines.
  2. Excellent operational skills, results driven, enjoys multitasking.
  3. Action-oriented with the ability to work through change and ambiguity.
  4. Demonstrated flexibility in responding to business and environmental needs.
  5. Builds supportive relationships with others and challenges the status quo.
  6. Interpersonal and Cross-cultural Savvy.
  7. Good communication and influencing skills across multiple levels, functions, and cultures.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, willing to roll-up their sleeves and can navigate between the day-to-day, longer-term thinking, and between several country environments.
