Overview
Flexibles Europe sits within the Flexibles Division of Berry Global Inc., a US listed company with an annual turnover of around $13bn and over 40,000 employees.
Working in the flexible packaging sector across a variety of markets, we are looking for an ambitious individual to support our Sustainability goals.
Reporting to the VP and GM EU who is responsible for Sustainability, you will build close working relationships across our business. Within this role, you will drive our sustainability roadmap by collaborating with our colleagues on related issues.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of plastic regulations and legislations is desirable
- Experience ideally from one of the following areas:
- Net zero commitments
- Life cycle assessment tools
- Supply chain sustainability or sustainable procurement
- Proficient in MS Office applications
- Commercial awareness
- Communication skills that allow you to inform, help, and advise
- Confidence, patience, tact, and diplomacy
- Creative thinking, to be able to produce ideas to improve sustainability awareness
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Organisational and planning skills
Responsibilities
- Review sustainability related data to identify challenges and opportunities
- Collaborate with our commercial teams to improve our service level and position on sustainability matters
- Drive projects and initiatives for both improvement in our products or operations
- Support and direct improvements on our ESG score by working with the functional leads
- Own regulatory and compliance obligations on matters such as EPR and plastic tax scheme, providing development plans to ensure Berry stays ahead
- Review suppliers‘ approaches to sustainability and liaise with the supply chain on improvements
- Work with our marketing team to ensure appropriate and accurate information is available to all stakeholders
- Educate and advise our colleagues on sustainability compliance and initiatives
- Attend conferences or working groups to promote our sustainability position
