Postdoc-position in experimental micromechanics (m/f/d)(EG 13 TV-L, 100%, Clausthal-Zellerfeld, Germany)
The Institute for Materials Science and Engineering at Clausthal University of Technology is pleased to announce a postdoctoral position available for three years which we wish to fill as soon as possible. The salary scale for this position is EG 13 TV-L aligning with the German collective labour agreement (indicative gross monthly salary range is €4,629.00 – €6,580.00 depending on experience). This opportunity is suitable for part-time work and is crafted as a qualification position for early career postdocs.
The working group Digitalisation in Materials Science and Engineering has a focus on biologic, architectured materials. The prospective candidate should strengthen this area strategically so that we seek a candidate with a background or interest in biological tissues.
Key duties and responsibilities:
- Conducting a DFG-funded research project on the micromechanics of mineralised tissues.
- Publication of research results in international journals.
- Presentation of research results at international conferences.
- Support for teaching in an area related to the research topic(s).
- Support of general processes of the institute such as administrative procedures as well as conceptual and strategic tasks and questions.
- This position is embedded in a strategic collaboration with partners from the UK and Switzerland, offering the opportunity for lab visits abroad if of interest.
Your profile:
- Successful completion of a doctorate in either biomaterials science, materials science and engineering, (bio)physics, (bio)chemistry, biomedical engineering, or a similar subject.
- Experience with methods and approaches of experimental micromechanics (nanoindentation, micropillar testing, associated analytics, etc.).
- Independent, structured way of working and quick comprehension, illustrated by first own publications or generated IP.
- Good written and spoken English and, if necessary, willingness to acquire German language skills.

Remuneration is based on the collective agreement for the public service of the federal states (TV-L), which includes a special annual payment at the end of the year. Additionally, we offer a separate supplementary pension scheme in the form of a company pension (VBL).
