Overview
In this role you will design, engineer and maintain robust, secure and scalable database platforms (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle) that power BIS applications and data services. You will act as a technical authority for core infrastructure, driving modernisation, standardisation and automation, including containerised patterns on OpenShift. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure reliability, security and governance while leading strategic initiatives in hybrid cloud and IaC-driven delivery. Verantwortungsbereiche
- Enable modern database architecture with containerised deployments on OpenShift
- Provide standardised configurations and plan availability/scalability for MS SQL, Oracle and PostgreSQL
- Design, implement and optimise platform components for security, resilience and performance
- Develop reference architectures and guide technical decisions across domains
- Lifecycle management, observability, incident/support tasks; drive automation and standardisation
- Lead modernisation, including hybrid cloud adoption and integration of emerging tech
- Develop scripts and IaC modules; support DevOps and CI/CD integration
- Collaborate with infrastructure, security and application teams; provide technical guidance on complex projects
- Apply baselines, identity hardening and data protection controls; maintain secure-by-design practices
- Maintain high-quality documentation and provide technical mentorship
- Stay informed on industry trends and best practices
Zentrale Anforderungen
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering or equivalent experience
- Deep domain expertise in database technologies (relational and/or cloud-native databases)
- Understanding of compute, virtualization, storage, network, backup, OS and data centre technologies
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, automation, scripting and IaC; familiarity with CI/CD and Git workflows
- Kubernetes and container management experience for scalable deployments
- Relational and cloud-native databases administration, availability concepts and lifecycle management
- Familiarity with enterprise monitoring tools and event correlation
- Ability to integrate systems for efficient data exchange and improved operations
- Assess process performance and recommend improvements
- Certifications in Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL or other DB technologies advantageous
