Back-End Developer – Quantitative Finance and Data (m/f/d)

We are a young and dynamic team of more than 60 people located worldwide, unified by a strong belief that the investment industry is ready for a new challenger.

We’re expanding our IT Team in Frankfurt am Main and are seeking a talented Back-End Developer with deep expertise in scalable, high-performance backend systems to power data-driven applications.

As a Back-End Developer, you will be responsible for building and optimizing back-end services that deliver high-quality, accurate, and timely financial data. You’ll work closely with front-end developers, data scientists, and product managers to design systems that ensure the reliability, speed, and security of our financial products.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and Enhance Back-End Systems: Design, develop, and maintain APIs, databases, and services for financial data applications.
  2. Ensure Data Integrity and Performance: Architect scalable, fault-tolerant systems to deliver complex financial datasets with precision and speed.
  3. Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work with front-end developers, product managers, and analysts to ensure end-to-end delivery of data solutions that meet business requirements.
  4. Optimize for High Availability: Implement strategies for monitoring, troubleshooting, and ensuring the reliability of back-end services in production environments.
  5. Code Quality and Standards: Lead and participate in code reviews, ensuring best practices in coding, testing, and documentation.
  6. Stay Current: Stay up-to-date with back-end technologies, data processing techniques, and best practices in financial data engineering.

Qualifications:

Experience: 5+ years of experience in back-end development. Experience in the finance or fintech industry is a strong plus.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in server-side languages such as Python (must), or Node.js (optional).
  • Strong experience in the use of the Pandas library.
  • Strong experience with API development and RESTful services, and ideally experience with Fast API.
  • Database expertise in SQL such as Postgres.
  • General knowledge of MQP-based messaging systems, mainly RabbitMQ.
  • General knowledge of time-series databases.
  • Familiarity with cloud services (AWS).

Data Security:

  • Knowledge of best practices in data security and privacy, especially related to financial data.
  • Performance Tuning: Experience with performance optimization, monitoring tools, and high-availability systems.
  • Problem-solving: Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills to address complex data challenges.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Financial Domain Knowledge: Understanding of financial markets, indexes, or fintech.
  • Experience with Distributed Systems: Hands-on experience designing distributed data systems and handling large volumes of real-time data.
  • DevOps Skills: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and infrastructure as code.
  • Machine Learning Integration: Experience integrating machine learning models or analytics into back-end systems.
