Act as the central point of contact for all internal and external stakeholders for questions related to MiFID II / MiFIR compliance. Assist in the development and implementation of company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with MiFID II requirements, including best execution, client categorisation, and product governance obligations. Manage the MiFID II compliance framework, including client onboarding, suitability and appropriateness assessments, and order handling processes. Monitor and supervise compliance with MiFID II / MiFIR obligations and the requirements of national and European supervisory authorities (e.g. BaFin, ESMA). Monitor and interpret relevant MiFID II / MiFIR laws, regulations, and regulatory guidance, advising on their impact on the company's operations and business strategies. Conduct risk assessments and reviews of implemented MiFID II policies, controls, and frameworks, including transaction reporting and market transparency requirements. Undertake regular, periodic and ad‑hoc reporting to internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory reporting obligations under MiFIR (e.g. transaction reporting, trade and post‑trade transparency). Collaborate with internal teams, including legal, finance, technology, and operations, to address MiFID II compliance issues and support business objectives. Stay up‑to‑date with regulatory developments, including ESMA guidelines, product governance updates, and evolving best execution requirements, to proactively address potential compliance risks. Provide training to business and compliance departments on MiFID II obligations, including conduct of business rules, conflicts of interest, and inducements. Assist in managing investor protection obligations, complaints handling, and support in creating operational structures ensuring ongoing MiFID II compliance. What you’ll need
University Degree in Law, Economics, Finance, or a related field, with a preference for candidates with a legal background. Minimum 5 years of experience in compliance departments within financial institutions, investment firms, banks, or FinTechs, with demonstrable hands‑on experience in MiFID II compliance. Prior experience within the crypto or digital assets industry is a plus but not required. Strong understanding of MiFID II / MiFIR requirements, including client categorisation, suitability and appropriateness, best execution, product governance, transaction reporting, and conduct of business rules. Familiarity with ESMA guidelines and the regulatory landscape surrounding investment services and financial instruments, including an awareness of how MiCA may intersect with MiFID obligations. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with regulators and senior stakeholders. Good command of written and oral English; proficiency in German is strongly preferred but is not a knock‑out criterion. Experience working in a start‑up or high‑growth technology or financial services company will be advantageous.
