Vice President - Compliance Technology Lead - Banking (gn)

For our client, a leading global universal bank with its European headquarters in Frankfurt, we are currently looking for a Vice President - Compliance Technology Lead - Banking (gn) to strengthen the Team.

Purpose of job

The position is accountable for the stable operation and ongoing improvement of the technology that supports the bank’s compliance work. Sitting at the crossroads of compliance, regulation and IT, it combines responsibility for managing the pipeline of system changes with close teamwork across areas such as financial crime, money laundering prevention, sanctions and market surveillance, and contributes to keeping the bank’s compliance setup in step with rising regulatory demands.

Tasks

• Take responsibility for delivering, running and further developing the IT systems that support the bank’s compliance department




• Serve as the main IT contact for compliance teams covering areas such as regulatory compliance, financial crime, money laundering prevention, sanctions, conduct and market surveillance




• Manage and coordinate the pipeline of system changes for compliance applications, including setting priorities, planning, tracking dependencies and monitoring progress




• Turn compliance and regulatory requirements into clearly defined technology projects and system improvements




• Coordinate internal IT teams and external vendors so that compliance systems meet the functional, data, monitoring and reporting needs of the business




• Spot risks related to delivery, data or systems early and make sure suitable countermeasures and escalation paths are in place




• Make sure compliance systems follow internal IT standards, governance rules and control requirements

Requirements

• Solid experience managing, delivering or supporting IT platforms in a compliance, financial crime or regulatory setting




• Good knowledge of how compliance works in a bank, including anti-money laundering, sanctions, regulatory compliance, conduct risk, surveillance and compliance monitoring




• Track record of delivering and managing complex IT change projects, ideally in a regulated financial services firm




• Experience bridging the gap between business teams and technology teams by turning regulatory and compliance needs into technical solutions




• Good command of project and programme management approaches, including both agile and waterfall




• Experience handling several parallel initiatives, dependencies, priorities and stakeholders in a matrix organisation




• Experience working with external vendors, software providers and implementation partners
