The successful candidate will lead a multi-disciplinary team spanning systems engineering, software and system development— driving modern engineering practices, integrating AI-enabled tooling, and ensuring compliance with aerospace safety standards.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at Neu-Isenburg, Germany.
Position Responsibilities:
Lead, develop, and inspire a team of ~40 engineers and 20 contractors across software engineering, and systems development
Drive adoption of model-based methods for systems and software development, transitioning from document-centric approaches to integrated digital engineering workflows
Champion modern software development practices including Agile, CI/CD, DevSecOps, and automated testing within a safety-critical aerospace context
Oversee deployment of software solutions into active BCA development programs, ensuring on-time delivery to program milestones
Define and execute strategy for the effective use of AI in development processes — including AI-assisted design, code generation, verification, and engineering productivity tools
Ensure compliance with ARP 4754A (Development of Civil Aircraft and Systems), ARP 4761 (Safety Assessment Process), and DO-178C (Software Considerations in Airborne Systems) as applicable
Manage on-shore and off-shore supplier relationships, including statement of work development, technical oversight, quality assurance, and delivery performance management
Provide technical leadership in airplane systems and avionics architecture, requirements development, and integration
Support certification and regulatory activities related to systems safety and development assurance (DAL A–D)
Develop workforce strategy leveraging knowledge of the German engineering talent landscape, university partnerships, and local labor market dynamics
Build and maintain relationships with BCA program leadership, functional peers, and cross-site engineering teams (US, international)
Drive a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and technical excellence
Manage budget, headcount planning, and resource allocation across programs
Basic Qualifications (Required skills/experience):
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Software, Systems, Aerospace, Computer Science, Data Science, or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
5+ years of experience in systems engineering, software engineering, or avionics development in the aerospace industry
3+ years of people management experience leading technical teams
Demonstrated experience with aerospace safety standards: ARP 4754A, ARP 4761, and/or DO-178
Demonstrated knowledge of flight deck and flight operations, incl. human factors
Experience managing supplier/vendor relationships including off-shore engineering partners
Fluent in English
Existing rights to work in Germany
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills & Experience):
Master or PhD in a relevant engineering discipline
Experience in leading development and deployment of model-based methods, software solutions, incl. rapid prototyping and simulation solutions into production and development programs
Track record of employing and introducing modern software development practices (Agile/SAFe, CI/CD, automated V&V) into safety-critical environments
Experience with AI/ML integration into engineering workflows — prompt engineering, copilot tools, agentic coding
Familiarity with BCA airplane systems architecture, avionics platforms
Proven ability to deliver under pressure in fast-paced, high-criticality environments with competing program demands
Knowledge of the German talent market — university pipelines, engineering services firms, labor regulations, and works council engagement
Experience with Boeing systems and processes
