We are looking for an Engineering Manager – Data & AI Platform to start immediately as part of our Data & AI Foundations cluster in Berlin.
Our data and machine learning platform team is responsible for enabling and supporting data and machine learning operations shaping the decisions that guide and augment our learner’s language learning journey with Babbel. Successful candidates will grow and lead the team to explore opportunities and deliver solutions at speed as well as manage expectations and build trust with stakeholders.
You will
- Lead a cross functional team of engineers to develop and support operations on our data and machine learning platform capabilities powering engaging personalisation features, as well as customer and internally facing analytics products
- Create business impact by leading through technological excellence and strategic architectural vision
- Drive a data mindset in engineering to become a reliable and responsive subject matter expert
You have
- Computer science, related engineering degree, or equivalent practical experience and 5+ years of experience in software development of platform products and data heavy applications on AWS
- 2+ years of experience in leading and managing cross-functional teams in a data-driven environment
- Proficiency in CI/CD, test automation and information security best practices
- Proficiency in agile methodologies and proven ability to adapting processes to suit business needs and team dynamics
- Experience with data pipeline architectures and big data technologies
- Knowledge of DevOps and MLOps architectures and principles
- Exposure to development, deployment and monitoring lifecycles of an ML or AI product
- Good understanding of data governance best practices and compliance
- Proficiency in Python and familiarity with at least one other programming language
Nice to have:
- Experience with Apache Spark and DataBricks
- Experience in designing and implementing infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar
