PhD – System Analysis, Modelling and Performance Improvement of MEMS Gyroscopes (f/m/div)

Tri-axial micro-electromechanical (MEMS) gyroscopes have become core components in many automotive and consumer applications such as ESP, inertial navigation, virtual and augmented-reality glasses, hearables, and wearables. The topic of the PhD includes the systematic examination and description of yet-unknown behavior of performance parameters like offset, sensitivity, and noise in analytic modelling and simulation. Improvement of these parameters are essential for the next gyroscope generation. For your PhD, system simulation models and environment are available. Once some sensor phenomena are understood, sensor-internal compensation mechanisms shall be explored in a second step. We actively support you with our experts working intensively in this field and expect you to place your papers in high-ranking IEEE conferences and journals. The employment as a scientific researcher at Bosch is offered for a duration of 3 years.

Profil

  • Education: You have a master’s degree with excellent grades in a suitable field such as Electrical Engineering, Microsystems Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, Cybernetics or Mechatronics.
  • Personality and Working Practice: You are excited about the possibilities of improving sensor performance and bringing new capabilities to the sensor. You discuss, break down, and solve complex issues with a high degree of ownership. Your working style is highly structured and analytical, along with a thorough documentation of concepts and results. You have intrinsic curiosity and a willingness to learn continuously.
  • Experience and Knowledge: Excellent knowledge in signal processing, control and system theory are important and experience with Matlab/Simulink.
  • Languages: Good English communication skills, both written and verbal

The final Phd topic is subject to your university.
