**Briese Chartering** is an established **Shipowner/Carrier based in Leer/Germany** managing a modern and versatile fleet of short-sea and multipurpose (MPP) vessels ranging from **3,000 to 10,000 DWT** with a strong focus on carriage of **project cargo**.

We are seeking an experienced **Chartering Broker** to join our **Intra-Europe Regional Trade** desk.

In this role you will hold commercial responsibility for **maximizing the utilization and profitability of our owned and controlled tonnage**.

You will optimize vessel loops across Europe, securing high-yielding regional breakbulk and specialized project cargo stems by maintaining direct relationships with industrial charterers, shippers and project forwarders.

**Negotiate charter parties** directly with cargo owners and competitive brokers, protecting the company's commercial interests.

**Fleet Optimization & Chartering**

**Fix our 3,000–10,000 DWT fleet** on Voyage Charters and Contracts of Affreightment (COAs) across European trade routes (Baltic, North Sea, Continent, Mediterranean/Black Sea and North/West Africa).

**Optimize vessel routing** and scheduling to minimize ballast days and maximize daily time charter equivalent returns.

**Project Cargo & Voyage Estimation**

**Evaluate and price specialized project cargo inquiries** tailored to our vessels' capabilities.

**Perform precise voyage calculations** including bunker tracking, port/terminal expenses, and laytime analysis to ensure optimal margins.

**Market Integration & Collaboration**

**Leverage the north/central European shipping community** while managing an active network of international chartering contacts.

**Work closely with our in-house operations** **and technical management teams** in Leer to guarantee smooth post-fixture execution.

• ## Qualifications & Experience
• **Essential Criteria**
• **Minimum 3 years of commercial experience** on the owner’s side or with an exclusive broker specifically within the European short-sea or small-MPP sectors.
• **Solid understanding of 3k–10k DWT vessel capabilities** including stowage configurations, deck strength and regional port/canal restrictions.
• **Deep knowledge of European trades** including seasonal weather factors, ice clauses and short-sea port operations.
• **Fluency in English** is required; proficiency in German is highly preferred given our regional hub and team integration.
• **Core Skills**
• **Commercial drive** with a clear focus on asset P&L and strategic fleet positioning.
• **Proficiency** in voyage estimation and other standard software tools (MS Office, Sedna, Netpas, etc.).
• **Existing network** of direct project cargo clients, industrial shippers and European forwarders.
