The Role
We are seeking a Battery Engineer with experience in battery energy storage systems to support the technical development, integration and optimisation of BESS projects.
Working alongside multidisciplinary engineering and project teams, you will play an important role in ensuring battery systems are designed, integrated and operated efficiently, safely and reliably.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the technical design, development and integration of battery energy storage systems.
- Work across BESS architecture, including battery cells, modules, racks, inverters, transformers and associated electrical components.
- Contribute to the integration and optimisation of Battery Management Systems (BMS) and Energy Management Systems (EMS).
- Support electrical system design, including HV/LV components, power electronics and grid connection requirements.
- Analyse battery performance data, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability and system performance.
- Support testing, commissioning and validation of battery storage systems.
- Troubleshoot technical challenges across battery systems and develop effective solutions.
- Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, software and project engineering teams.
- Ensure compliance with relevant technical standards, safety requirements and industry regulations.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across battery technology and system performance.
About You
- Strong experience within the battery, energy storage or wider renewable energy industry.
- Good understanding of battery technologies, particularly lithium-ion battery systems.
- Knowledge of BESS architecture and system integration.
- Familiarity with BMS, EMS, inverters and power conversion systems.
- Experience with battery testing, commissioning, performance analysis or electrical system design.
- Understanding of grid-scale or commercial and industrial (C&I) battery storage applications.
- Strong analytical, technical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
- Good communication skills in German and English.
