HSE Manager – Hydrogen / Electrolysis / Industrial Projects / Construction Safety / Plant Engineering / HSE / Risk Management / Site Safety / Energy Transition / Clean Energy / Petrochemicals Interested in taking ownership of Health Safety, and Environment across some of Europe’s most ambitious industrial hydrogen projects?As an HSE Manager / Leader, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the safe delivery of large-scale electrolyzer projects.
You'll work across project planning, construction, commissioning and external customer sites, while helping establish the standards and processes that keep complex industrial projects safe.
In terms of the team - you'll enjoy a senior role with one of the global-market leaders in the Hydrogen / Clean Energy space, now scaling industrial electrolysis to gigawatt-level production.
What’s on offer?Real project impact: You’ll be embedded in the delivery of industrial hydrogen projects, with responsibility for HSE from early planning through to execution and site acceptance.
Work at the forefront of industrial hydrogen: The business has commissioned projects across Europe and is now scaling next-generation electrolyzers, including systems designed for large-scale, triple-digit MW projects.
Ownership: You won’t be limited to checking compliance, you’ll actively shape HSE plans, site setup, contractor processes, risk assessments and safety standards across projects.
International exposure: Work with project teams, customers, partners and contractors across multiple European sites, supported by a broad engineering organisation.
Purpose: Your work directly contributes to deploying the infrastructure needed to replace fossil fuels in energy-intensive industries.
The Role You’ll take ownership of HSE coordination across external production and customer sites, ensuring safety is embedded throughout project planning and execution.
This includes developing HSE and site plans, conducting inspections and machine approvals, coordinating contractors and permit processes, and identifying and mitigating risks across construction and plant engineering activities.
You’ll work closely with project managers, site supervisors, customers and the wider HSE function, while also driving contractor management, accident analysis, documentation and training.
The role combines hands-on site presence with the opportunity to improve HSE processes across a growing project organisation.
Ideally, you’ll have a combination of: Qualification as a Fachkraft für Arbeitssicherheit (Si Fa) under §7 ASi G, with an engineering, technician or master craftsman background Experience in HSE / construction supervision, ideally within mechanical or plant engineering, industrial projects, petrochemicals, Oil & Gas, or wider clean energy infrastructure Si Ge Ko qualification or strong experience coordinating with Si Ge Kos (Bonus)Locations / Travel: With this role focused on the execution stages of each project, you'll likely travel approximately 50–75% of the time around Germany.
This won't be for longer than 3-4 days at a time, and you'll always home be home by the weekend.
Home office: Outside of this, the senior leadership will be happy for you to work from home, anywhere in the country.
