Operations Engineer - Hydrogen/ Oil & Gas/ Petrochemical/ Cleantech

The Role

An exciting opportunity to join an early-stage cleantech business developing an innovative solution for hydrogen storage and transportation.

Following the launch of its first industrial-scale pilot plant, the business is now focused on testing, optimising and scaling its technology for commercial use.

Working directly with the CTO, you’ll play a hands-on role in plant operations, troubleshooting and technical development, with the opportunity to make a genuine impact in a growing business.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor and optimise the pilot plant.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues across mechanical, process, instrumentation and electrical systems.
  • Conduct tests and adjust operating parameters to improve performance.
  • Support plant modifications and the development of new components.
  • Coordinate with external suppliers and subcontractors, sourcing equipment as required.
  • Work to refine the technology and prepare for commercial deployment.

Background

  • Degree or equivalent technical qualification in Mechanical, Chemical, Process, Automotive Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Practical engineering experience within an industrial, manufacturing, process or plant environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
  • Comfortable working across different engineering disciplines and taking ownership of technical challenges.
  • Experience with pilot plants, commissioning, hydrogen or chemical processes is advantageous.
  • Able to work on-site in Rostock at least four days per week.

What's on Offer?

  • Direct CTO exposure: Work closely with technical leadership and influence engineering decisions.
  • Ownership and autonomy: Take responsibility for practical challenges and see the results of your work.
  • Varied engineering scope: Combine plant operations, troubleshooting, testing and technical development.
  • Career progression: Opportunity to grow alongside an early-stage business, with potential exposure to future commercial projects.
  • Purpose-driven work: Contribute to the development of technology supporting the energy transition.

If you're a practical engineer who enjoys solving problems and working hands-on with equipment, this is an opportunity to help take innovative technology from pilot scale towards commercial reality.
