You will join Contentful as a Software Engineer (f/m/d) and be a part of an innovative team driving the future of content management and delivery through our suite of APIs. As a member of our team, you’ll work on projects that directly impact our company’s strategic goals and help deliver a best-in-class experience for our customers.

• Innovate and improve content management for our customers by working on initiatives that connect and deliver content at scale, breaking down silos.
• Develop on our Platform with modern services like AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
• Get involved in our journey to leverage AI to enhance user experience, streamline operations, and unlock new capabilities.
• Continuously enhance REST and GraphQL API experiences that consistently cater to billions of requests every month.

What you need to be successful

• Experience in delivering robust distributed systems, REST APIs, and event-driven architectures.
• Strong knowledge and commercial experience working with the server-side JavaScript ecosystem (Node.js) and TypeScript.
• Experience working with both SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• Experience working in an agile environment, passionate about operational excellence and coding best practices such as pair-programming and the testing trophy.
• Have strong teamwork skills, open to diverse opinions, able to give reasons for your technical decisions and guide/mentor less seasoned engineers.
• Familiarity with automated deployment processes (CI/CD) and version control (Git).
• Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written (German is not required).
• Knowledge of functional programming principles, GraphQL, and serverless applications a plus.
• Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Google Cloud, etc.), and technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform also a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of building microservices architecture and handling distributed systems challenges.
• Familiarity with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for efficient code delivery.
• Experience working with PostgreSQL.
• Proven ability to identify performance bottlenecks and implement performance improvements in backend systems.
• Prior experience working in Agile environments.
