Location: Germany (remote, or hybrid from Frankfurt)
Employment type: Fixed term (12 months plus), permanent, or contract
Salary: €70,000 to €95,000, or a competitive day rate for contractors
About the business
Our client is a fast growing international payroll provider, delivering managed payroll for organisations across Europe and beyond. Their German operation is expanding, with a strong pipeline of new clients going live in early 2027. They need an experienced German payroll implementer to own those go lives and set each new client up for long term success.
The role
You’ll be the first point of contact for new German clients and at the heart of ongoing payroll delivery. You’ll implement new payrolls from scratch and make sure each one is fully compliant with German tax, social security and labour law. You’ll then look after a varied portfolio of weekly, fortnightly and monthly payrolls, from small businesses to large corporates.
What you’ll be doing
- Reviewing client requirements and payroll data, then configuring system settings
- Setting up German payroll rules, tax parameters and social security contributions
- Running test payrolls, resolving discrepancies and documenting configuration changes
- Meeting clients to clarify requirements, give updates and guide them through statutory deadlines
- Working with Product, Commercial and Operations colleagues to resolve technical and legislative questions
- Training clients so they understand their payroll outputs and the system
- Tracking project timelines, reporting progress and making sure milestones land on time
- Keeping up with changes to German payroll legislation and assessing their impact on live projects
What you’ll bring
- Considerable hands on experience of German payroll processing and implementations
- ADDISON experience, which is highly desirable; DATEV, SAP, LOGA and similar platforms also considered
- Bureau or payroll provider experience managing multiple client payrolls, which is a real advantage
- Excellent attention to detail and a nose for when something \"just doesn’t look right\"
- Strong Excel and systems skills
- A genuine commitment to outstanding client service
- The ability to juggle competing deadlines without dropping quality
- Fluent German and good working English
Why this role
You’ll join a growing, international payroll business at a point where German operations are scaling. You’ll own client implementations end to end, working with flexibility on location and with colleagues across Europe. The client is open to how you join: fixed term, permanent, or as a contractor. For the right person, there’s a clear route to a long term role.
Process
Interviews will move quickly, and immediate starters are especially welcome.
