The Junior Data Engineer supports the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of master data management solutions and data integration processes. The role assists in implementing data pipelines, workflow automation and system integrations while gaining practical experience in enterprise data management, SAP and Salesforce environments.
The position contributes to data quality, platform support and documentation activities.
Responsibilities
Data Engineering Foundation
- Support the development and maintenance of domain data pipelines and reusable master data services.
- Assist in data validation, transformation and synchronization activities.
- Support data documentation, metadata maintenance and field mapping activities.
Tool Development & Integration
- Support configuration and testing of data integration solutions.
- Assist in API testing and interface validation activities.
- Contribute to technical documentation of system integrations.
- Support platform enhancements and technical solution implementation.
Workflow Design & Automation
- Support maser data workflow configuration, testing and monitoring.
- Assist with documentation of business process and governance requirements.
- Help identify opportunities for process enhancement and automation
Automated Master Data Governance
- Assist with data quality monitoring.
- Support preparation of governance reports and dashboards.
- Participate in data cleansing and quality improvement activities
Platform Operations & Support
- Support data platform administration activities.
- Assist with defect resolution, incident management and root cause analysis
- Support platform testing and deployment activities.
Qualifications
Master Data Management
- Basic understanding of master data concepts, including Customer, Business Partner, Vendor and Material Data.
- Familiarity with data quality principles, data validation methods and data standardization practices.
- Ability to support data cleansing, enrichment and maintenance activities across enterprise systems.
- Understanding of the importance of data governance, ownership and data lifecycle management in a business environment.
Data Engineering
- Basic knowledge of data processing concepts, data transformation and data integration workflows.
- Ability to create and maintain simple SQL queries for data extraction, validation and analysis.
- Familiarity with Python or similar programming languages for data manipulation and automation tasks.
- Understanding of data structures, file formats and fundamental data pipeline concepts.
Integration
- Basic understanding of APIs, interfaces and system-to-system data exchange.
- Ability to support testing and validation of integrations between business applications.
- Familiarity with enterprise applications such as SAP, Salesforce or comparable business systems is beneficial.
- Understanding of how data flows between systems and how integration supports business processes.
Cloud & Automation
- Familiarity with cloud-based platforms and modern data management technologies.
- Basic understanding of workflow automation and digital process improvement concepts.
- Interest in learning cloud services, automation tools and data platform technologies.
- Ability to work with technical documentation and follow established development and deployment processes.
Databases & Data Analysis
- Basic understanding of relational databases and data modeling concepts.
- Ability to perform data analysis, identify data inconsistencies and support issue resolution.
- Experience using Microsoft Excel and other analytical tools for data validation and reporting.
- Ability to document findings and communicate data-related issues in a clear and structured manner.
