SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) in München

We are currently hiring for an experienced SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) in Munich for one of our clients.

The role focuses on leading and enabling an Agile Release Train (ART) within a complex enterprise technology environment, driving alignment, transparency, collaboration, predictability, and continuous value delivery across multiple Agile teams.

You will work closely with Product Management, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, System Architects, Engineering Managers, DevOps, SRE, Business Owners, and senior leadership to facilitate large-scale Agile delivery and organizational transformation.

This is not a traditional project management role. The RTE will act as a strategic servant leader, facilitator, Agile coach, and execution enabler, with a strong focus on optimizing flow, removing systemic impediments, improving predictability, and enabling teams to consistently deliver business value.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead execution and coordination of the Agile Release Train (ART).
• Facilitate alignment across business, product, engineering, and technology stakeholders.
• Drive ART flow, predictability, and continuous value delivery.
• Promote Lean-Agile principles, servant leadership, and continuous improvement.
• Identify and remove systemic impediments affecting delivery across teams.
• Enable transparency across planning, execution, dependencies, risks, and delivery outcomes.
• Facilitate collaboration and synchronization across multiple Agile teams.
• Support organizational Agile transformation and change initiatives.
• Promote engineering excellence, quality, DevOps, and continuous delivery practices.
• Establish shared accountability for achieving Program Increment (PI) Objectives.
• Facilitate resolution of cross-team and cross-functional challenges.
• Drive continuous inspection, adaptation, learning, and improvement across the ART.
• Provide executive-level visibility into ART performance, risks, dependencies, and delivery progress.

Required Skills / Primary Skills

• 5+ years of experience in Agile delivery, engineering leadership, program delivery, or Agile transformation roles.
• 3+ years of experience working within SAFe environments.
• Proven experience facilitating and leading Program Increment (PI) Planning.
• Experience leading or coordinating Agile Release Trains involving multiple Agile teams.
• Strong understanding of SAFe 6.0 principles and practices.
• Strong experience with ART-level planning, execution, synchronization, and continuous improvement.
• Strong understanding of Lean-Agile leadership, servant leadership, and Agile coaching.
• Experience managing cross-team dependencies, risks, impediments, and delivery challenges.
• Experience working within complex enterprise organizations.
• Experience collaborating with executive and senior leadership stakeholders.
• Experience working with geographically distributed teams.
• Strong facilitation and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong understanding of software delivery lifecycle and product development practices.
• Understanding of continuous delivery, DevOps, CI/CD, release management, and test automation.
• Working knowledge of Azure.
• Experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, or similar Agile program management tools.
• Strong understanding of flow-based delivery, value stream thinking, and systems thinking.
• Experience supporting cloud-native and digital transformation programs.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related discipline.

• Experience working with DevOps and SRE organizations.
• Understanding of observability, reliability engineering, incident management, and service management concepts.
• Experience working with cloud-native platforms and modern software engineering environments.
• Experience with organizational change management and enterprise Agile transformation.
• Experience working with Solution Train Engineers (STE), Enterprise Architects, and Portfolio Leadership.
• Understanding of Agile metrics, flow metrics, delivery predictability, and performance reporting.
• Experience working with external partners and technology vendors.
• SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) certification preferred.
• SAFe Practice Consultant (SPC) certification preferred.
• SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) certification is an advantage.
• SAFe Product Owner / Product Manager (POPM) certification is an advantage.
• PMI-ACP, ICAgile Agile Coaching, or Certified Scrum Professional (CSP) certification is an advantage.
• PMP or Lean Six Sigma certification is an advantage.
• Master's degree in Technology Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
