- Scientific processing of the project ‘InInspekt’ (robot‑based multisensory internal inspection of rotor blades). Focus on developing, testing and validating measurement strategies for passive and active thermography and processing multimodal sensor data.
- Scientific design and definition of two‑stage thermographic inspection strategies inside rotor blades.
- Selection, procurement and integration of suitable hardware (thermographic camera, heat source) into the overall robotic system in coordination with project partners.
- Planning, organising and implementing experimental investigations on real rotor blade sections at the BAM site and participating in data collection in Germany and the EU.
- Systematic processing, fusion and analysis of multimodal raw data (RGB, 3D scans, thermography).
- Creation and publication of a scientific reference data set in accordance with FAIR principles.
Qualifications
- Completed university degree (diploma, master) in physics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, materials science, physical engineering, computer science or similar.
- Doctorate is an advantage.
- Very good practical programming experience, preferably in Python or Matlab, for signal and image processing and data analysis.
- Experience in application‑oriented research projects, ideally in non‑destructive testing of wind turbines or fibre composite materials.
- Knowledge in multimodal data fusion (e.g., image, 3D and thermography data) is an advantage.
- Willingness to travel within Germany and abroad.
- Driving licence.
- Very good knowledge of German (at least B1) and very good knowledge of English.
- Very good physical fitness and willingness to participate in GWO training (including working at heights) and conduct onshore and offshore field measurements on wind turbines.
