Overview
In this role you will support AFRICOM’s global WAN/LAN network, ensuring high availability, performance, and security. You will work with cross-functional teams to design, deploy, and operate mission-critical network infrastructure, integrating modern automation and DevOps practices. Your contributions will help maintain secure, scalable networks and drive continuous improvement in network reliability. Verantwortungsbereiche
- Deploy and maintain DoD enterprise and data center networks with high availability
- Design and operate reliable, scalable network systems
- Manage complex routing and switching (DMVPN, MPLS, Segment-Routing)
- Oversee datacenter fabrics (Cisco ACI, Nexus) and security devices (Palo Alto, Cisco Firepower)
- Administer ISE for secure access and Zero Trust support
- Provision and manage KG encryptors (TACLANE) for classified traffic
- Develop automation via Ansible, Python, REST APIs to enable SDA
- Maintain core services (F5, Infoblox DNS/DHCP/IPAM)
- Identify bottlenecks and single points of failure; drive performance improvements
- Create DevOps maturation roadmap and promote Infrastructure as Code
- Analyze metrics for performance, fault detection, and post-action reporting
- Collaborate with ops teams to automate use-cases and improve release processes
Zentrale Anforderungen
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related technical discipline
- Active Secret clearance (ability to obtain Top Secret)
- 5–10+ years of practical network engineering experience in large or military environments
- Strong programming/scripting ability in Python, Go, or PowerShell
- Hands-on automation/orchestration experience (Ansible, VMware Aria Suite, ServiceNow)
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Ansible)
- DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II baseline certification (e.g., Security+ CE)
- Current U.S. Citizenship
- Desired certifications such as CCNA/CCNP/CASP preferred
- Basic understanding of Routing Protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP) and MPLS/IPSEC
