Country Manager Germany - Life Sciences Investment
Capital Cell | Germany | Full-time
Germany is Europe's second-largest healthtech deal market and the only major one with no specialist life sciences investment platform in it. Capital Cell intends to be that platform, and is appointing the person who will build it.
ABOUT CAPITAL CELL
Capital Cell is Europe's leading life sciences investment platform. Since 2015 it has completed 163 investment rounds and channelled €156M into biotech, medtech, diagnostics and digital health, with a portfolio value increase of x2.7 and more than 25,000 registered investors. In 2025 it raised €36.7M, the largest equity crowdfunding volume of any platform in the EU.
Every opportunity is screened by the BioExpert Network, a private community of over 4,000 doctors, researchers and scientific entrepreneurs. Roughly 3% of applicant companies are published, and no round goes live without a professional lead investor. Capital Cell is market leader in Spain, France and Switzerland, operates across the EU under an ESMA-supervised ECSP licence, and is profitable.
WHY THIS ROLE EXISTS
Germany is the next priority market and the entry is already funded. The licence is in place and the playbook is proven: France went from launch to Capital Cell's largest single source of investment within twelve months under one senior country lead.
What the German entry does not yet have is the person on the ground. This is an outpost appointment, not a country-manager job inside an existing structure. The appointee is Capital Cell in Germany until volume justifies a team.
Location is open. The role can be based anywhere in Germany.
THE ROLE
Reporting to the CEO, the Country Head will:
- Originate a pipeline of investment-ready seed and Series A life sciences companies through clusters, accelerators, technology transfer offices, venture builders, VCs and trade fairs
- Build a German investor base of business angels, key opinion leaders, family offices and VCs, and secure a lead investor for every German campaign
- Own the ecosystem relationships, including BioM, the regional health hubs, universities and industry associations, and represent Capital Cell publicly
- Prepare founders and deliver campaigns alongside the analysis, marketing and operations teams in Barcelona
- Own the German numbers: campaign volume, funds raised and revenue against targets set with the CEO
AUTONOMOUS, NOT UNSUPPORTED
From day one the appointee has central analysis and due diligence capacity in Barcelona, full campaign and marketing infrastructure, German-language platform presence, the BioExpert Network as an introduction route into German scientific circles, and direct access to the CEO and founder.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Genuine insider standing in the German life sciences or healthtech ecosystem
- A proven business development record, energised by outreach rather than merely willing to do it
- Fluency in early-stage financing: valuation, cap tables, syndication, deal dynamics. Venture capital, angel investing, venture building or startup CEO experience are all relevant
- Enough scientific literacy to hold your own with founders and expert reviewers
- The temperament for a one-person operation with a remote head office
- Native or fluent German plus fluent professional English
BEFORE YOU APPLY
This role will not suit an investment professional who wants to assess deals rather than find them, anyone who needs a team and an office nearby, or anyone who cannot work through a nine to twelve month build before results appear.
PACKAGE
Base salary appropriate to a senior country leadership appointment in Germany, plus an incentive based on results, tied to funds raised and campaign volume.
