Job Overview

Engineering Manager (m/f/x) – Munich, Germany. Salary: EUR 100k‑130k per year + Equity.

Job Description

We are seeking an Engineering Manager to join our Data and Cloud Platform team.

This team plays a central enabling role at KONUX: it provides the data and cloud foundations used by our product engineering teams, while also supporting Revenue, Operations, and other business functions in accessing, analysing, and acting on data.

You will lead and grow a high‑performing cross‑functional team owning a broad platform scope, including:

  • Data processing frameworks and scalable data platform capabilities
  • Cloud infrastructure, cost management, and observability
  • Platform security concepts, tenant configuration, and device management
  • Process automation, CI/CD pipelines, and developer enablement

In this role, you will set clear priorities, align technical strategy with company goals, and help the team make sound trade‑offs across reliability, scalability, security, data quality, cost, and delivery speed.

You will combine strong people leadership with hands‑on technical judgement: assess technical designs, understand implementation risks, guide engineers toward pragmatic solutions, and contribute directly to the codebase or technical delivery where needed.

You will also act as an important communication bridge between Engineering, Product, Revenue, Operations, and leadership, ensuring complex technical topics are clearly understood by both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

  • Your Impact
  • Team Leadership
  • Effectively lead a cross‑functional team of 8 Full‑stack, Dev Ops, and Data Engineers, as well as Technical Service Engineers; foster collaboration, growth and development.
  • Conduct regular 1:1 meetings to provide coaching and support individual career development.
  • Manage performance reviews and pay adjustments according to the company framework.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, feedback, conflict resolution, and performance management.
  • Technical Delivery
  • Own the architecture and technical strategy for the Data and Cloud Platform and collaborate with key stakeholders to align with the product roadmap and the needs of Revenue and Operations.
  • Translate company and technical goals into actionable plans for your team and ensure clear priorities and focus.
  • Treat the platform as a product: understand internal users, prioritize high‑leverage improvements, and balance reliability, scalability, security, cost, and delivery speed.
  • Contribute directly to technical delivery where needed, leading by example on data and software engineering, cloud infrastructure, and automation of operational processes.
  • Assess technical designs hands‑on, identify risks and trade‑offs, and guide engineers toward pragmatic, maintainable solutions.
  • Communicate technical decisions, trade‑offs, risks, priorities, and delivery constraints clearly to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Financial Management
  • Own the annual team budget, managing both staff and operational expenses.
  • Control and optimize costs across pre‑production and production environments.

Qualifications

  • Software, Dev Ops, Data Engineering, or other STEM background, with a minimum of 8+ years of experience and 2+ years in an engineering leadership role, ideally including people‑management.
  • Strong people‑leadership skills, including coaching, conflict resolution, hiring, performance management, and building a healthy team culture.
  • Ability to assess technical designs hands‑on, identify risks and trade‑offs, and guide engineers toward pragmatic, maintainable solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to align engineers, business stakeholders, and leadership around complex technical topics.
  • Solid hands‑on experience in: Python, Py Spark (ETLs), Cloud infrastructure (preferably AWS and Databricks), building a scalable data platform accelerating product teams and other functions.
  • Experience in working with Io T devices and process automation is advantageous.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary (EUR 100k to 130k per year depending on experience and seniority).
  • Equity (all permanent KONUX employees have equity).
  • Dedicated Learning & Development budget of 3,600€ per year.
  • Comprehensive relocation support if required.
  • Hybrid working model: attend office minimum 2 days per week.
  • Modern workspace with a rooftop and mountain view.
  • Flexible working conditions, home office equipment and choice of Windows or Apple laptop.
  • Health benefits supporting physical and mental well‑being (e. g., Wellpass/gym membership, mental health app license).
  • Fruits, snacks and beverages; office cooking every Thursday.
  • Company pension scheme.
  • Access to corporate benefits and future bonuses.
  • 27 vacation days (+1 day on each 3-year work anniversary).
  • Volunteering activities (2 additional days off).
  • Company and team events.
  • Pet‑friendly environment; pets allowed in office.
